looking at the color, paint matching might be difficult! just be careful when receiving the fixed car and complain if any paint mismatch is found. however, bumper paint and metal paint will be different no matter how hard you try

When it's not your fault, USE YOUR INSURANCE. You pay them a lot of money every year. As long as they get paid back (which they definitely will), your rates will never go up. You'll never have to argue over anything or worry about calling them or them calling you. You just get an estimate, pay the $500, they pay for the repairs, then you wait a few weeks and get the $500 back from your insurance company after they get paid by Enterprise.

If OP doesn't have OE parts specified in his 'insurance contract' he is paying the difference.

others have said it but make sure to file claim (or suit if needed) for Diminished Value. NEVER NEVER NEVER take their first offer either, they will low ball you.

If you decline their second offer then you are likely to go down an ugly path where you hire a DV appraiser, they hire a DV appraiser, they both come to individual conclusions then meet and agree on a final value. If this ends up not in your favor you just spent even more, if it ends up in your favor, you'll get reimbursed the fee you paid and be awarded the higher amount.

Update

So I received the prelimary estimate of $5,390.50 from the company that insures Enterprise rentals. They cover up to the first $10,000, after that the driver's insurance will have to cover the rest. The preliminary estimate is subjective to change as it only covers visible damage. Once the car is throughly diagnosed, the remaining money will be administered.

I had it towed to Rallye BMW in Westbury, Long Island to their collision center. Manager said they won't be able to start on it until Monday but at least it's not sitting outside my window anymore.

Well thats enough to ruin a perfectly good bowl of cereal! I feel your pain, my 335 is in the shop right now being cut apart and welded back together (not fun).

I'm curious how you make out with your diminished value claim, as I will be dealing with that very soon...fingers crossed.

Luckily no one was hurt (same as in my case). So while frustrating, in the grand scheme of things a damaged car is nothing compared to the challenges others are facing. Try to take a deep breath and put it into perspective, no matter what...things can always be much, much worse.

Best of luck on a speedy recovery (and a decent rental car)!
