Dispatches on Facebook

Did anyone else watch this tonight?

The more I saw the more it annoyed me, yes I get they are a business, yes we all sign up to their policies without reading them, but surely they have a duty of care

Videos of a child being beaten up by other children
Videos of adults abusing children
Videos of self harm

To be honest I use Facebook far less these days

Interested in others opinions

It's an interesting watch Maurice,

It's about how they moderate content, what annoys me is that if it's popular and generates revenue it s left up or has a warning.

I caught about 5 mins of it last night and it confirmed why I don't use the service.

Seems to bring the very worst out in people in all ways, eating away at the very fabric of society.

Same as you Jay, not happy with the recent FB revelations. Took me awhile but I've stopped using it, maybe at best once a week & just shift thru the usual crap.. cheers

I'm kind of proud to say I have never had a Facebook account. Alot of of my friends and family are on there but I don't believe I have really missed out on much by not being on there.

I know you could argue this forum is a form of social media in some respects of course.

I'm considering deleting anything I have ever uploaded and signing out...however it is handy for staying in touch with distant relatives..

Hmm I'd get about an hour wasted time back a day....to spend on car forums..oh FFS!

Garage List
Had an account when it first started but haven't used it since 2015. Their whole ethos seems to be "Get away with whatever you can and just offer empty apologies when you get caught" (much like any large corporation these days.... Equifax?).

They moderate content?

That's like saying the fox has been busy redecorating the chicken coop!
Lol I knew it was moderated. My issue was with how.

It took me a few years to create an account. And like others I use it more for keeping in touch with distant friends. Although I'm using it far less these days.

Cripes, I knew you were slow but thats ridiculous.

FB is nothing more than a large revenue maker for the share holders and anyone who thinks its 'for the people' is naive. I use it very occasionally and tend to only use it for a BMW group. I could certainly live without it.

I find fb is ok if you just use it just as a kind of friends reunited replacement, I've been contacted through fb by people I lost touch with for one reason or another over the years, so it has its uses if you use it sparingly just for things like that. I hardly ever post on there though, and I certainly don't feel the need to tell the world what I've just had for dinner etc.

What I do find funny, is how people do not realise their social media profile is often used by interviewers.

I routinely do an online search for people I am due to interview.

Makes for some interesting interview questions.

I've never had a FB account - I appreciate the convenience factor, but it's just not something I choose to spend time on.

However, with three young children I absolutely expect to create an account within the next few years if FB is the platform of choice (or whatever else is) and be within their inner sanctum.

Didn't see the programme, but there's bound to be a lot of it sickening images on FB. I properly kick off if anyone shares animal cruelty (as they feel they ought to!).
It has its humour though, when you see people sharing the most ridiculous fake news.
