Factory order carbon fiber parts?

I am in a bit of limbo whether I should buy external performance parts like the side skits, front lip, etc from factory or after market?

I placed an order for a 440i and added carbon fiber exhaust tips and spoiler to the order but I can't help notice the prices of after market parts are 50% cheaper. Is it safe to buy these parts from outside?

Also, M performance wheels from BMW are well over $6000 after taxes. Can I find the same OEM wheels for cheap outside?

OEM carbon fiber parts will have superior fit and finish than any after market parts. You can buy OEM parts from various vendors in this forum under sponsor classifieds.
Also look up in wheels and tires section in members classifieds for for cheap OEM wheels. Good luck.

it all comes down to money

are you willing to pay the premium for OEM product

or pay significantly cheaper for the same thing

I've only ever put OEM Carbon Fiber parts on my cars. I want them to fit perfectly, match perfectly, and be able to sell them later without worrying about discoloration and quality issues.

️This! I know from experience that aftermarket/eBay is a crap shoot. I honestly never had an issue with my E36 or E46, but for some reason I've had nothing but issues buying aftermarket cosmetic parts for my F30. I get it though, $489 vs $1499!?... It's worth the chance, but most of those vendors have the same source.

Went OEM and remember you can sell them later on too, whereas eBay and the like... not so much.

Remember, on a new built - Port Installed Accessories [including the performance parts] can and should be "residualized" into a vehicle's cost itself.
You would end up paying a half of it in a long run

Honestly I really think it depends for what part and what the difference in cost is. I ordered a carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler for $120 shipped to my house on eBay. The OEM one was $730 or something ridiculous. Honestly I’ve had cf parts from eBay before and have had great quality and ok quality but for a 1/5th of the price I’ll take my chances. When I had a g37s I bought a rear diffuser off eBay and had it on the car for years, through winters and everything with no discoloration or clear coat peel. As for fitment it was pretty damn good....nothing will fit like OEM but it wasn’t “off” enough to annoy me or make an install an arduous process

Very random, but where did you get the phone mount from in the picture? Is it a mount to the side of the center console or to the top section or what? Looks clean!

Thx and am a bit 'old school'. Lemme find it on Amazon for you... Basically it's a gooseneck that attached to seat bolt. If you need power, simply use the under glove box 12V for USB cables, run cable from there to mount. Zip ties and maybe wire loom to make it look pro and.... there ya go.

$30 https://amzn.to/2LFHa1f

Ah that's a smart method, will look into this! Thanks appreciate the point in the right direction!

By chance you have a reccomended size to use? I see 18" and 22" looking to see if I can rig up my magnetic mount to it instead of the one provided

Buy good OEM parts...its really the only way to go. You shouldn't have any problems that way.

18" is what i use. Recall reading some tweak guy adding wireless charging capability(! ) for the cradle, which sounds sweet.

Okay awesome! Was thinking about adding this to the flat mount point and running the cable along the carpet into the glove box power.
