M performance brakes
Hi,
I have 2017 BMW 340 with M sport package with the grey Brembo brakes (340 mm). I really want the brake calipers to be painted at blue. As far as I can see it I have 3 options: 1. powder coat them for $800-1000 2. do nothing and live with it. 3. Order from here complete set (except the rear rotors) for $2000 USD and maybe ship it to a US address in Buffalo, drive there and pick them up in person. What are your thoughts? |

3. You'll need to order rear calipers as well adding to the cost. Also word of warning. The M Performance rotors can give off a a clicking sound that sounds like locusts because of the dimples in them.

4th option…buy Blue VHT Caliper paint and paint your existing grey calipers blue.

Prep work is easy with copious amounts of Formula 409 household cleaner spray and some nylon brushes. Finish with brake cleaner to flush away the gunk. Put a cheaper plastic open oil change pan underneath to catch the gunk because it will stain the driveway/garage surface. Tape up bleed nipples and anywhere you don't want to accidentally paint. You only need to paint the caliper surfaces that face forward. No one will ever see the very back. Just make sure that you follow the instructions and only paint when the air temperature is in the prescribed range. I did mine in the summer. I cleaned and prepped mine the day before. Painted them early morning before the air temperature got higher than recommended. It just gets gunky on the brush if air temperature is too hot. Drying in the heat is fine. G2USA ships internationally. They have many stock colors and many custom colors that cost more to color match. You can choose a custom color that someone else previously matched. The attached photo shows G2USA Ferrari Red that my buddy painted to change M Sport rotors that he bought from Blue to Red. I even painted the sides of my rusty BMW brake rotor hats (after a wire brush/Formula409 cleaning) with G2USA Silver. No more rusting forever! Hope this helps! |

Yup here you go. This was done 3 years ago and it's held up well. I did spray can, then sticker then clear coated. I didn't take off the caliper so the backside looks like ass, but don't care as no one will ever see it (as I do my own brake jobs).
