Best shop to get the OFHG replaced? Worries about possible engine failure after chang

Hi Folks,

Hope all is well! What's the best shop in the Toronto area that does the most oil filter housing gasket replacements? I have a very small slow leak starting at the moment, nothing is leaking down to the belt but I'd like to get it replaced soon. I'm familiar with lots of shops in the GTA but for this specific job I think I'm actually going to go to the bmw dealer. It'll cost more but they'll follow the priming procedure and if something happens down the line I'd have a better case against them than a small Indy shop.

What are your thoughts on this issue with engines seizing after ofhg replacements? I've heard of this happening even with priming prior to start up. Would it be the safest bet to go to a bmw dealer?

Is there a shop in the area that specializes in engine rebuilds and modifying vehicles for track duty? Other than the BMW dealer, I would entrust OFHG replacement to a shop that services these vehicles. In my area, I have such an Indy shop.

Try Bavarian Motorsport in Pickering 1031 Toy Ave

Ask for Marshall. He’s got a ton of experience and I’ve never been dissatisfied with any of his work.

Changing the OFHG is pretty laborous. I'd be inclined to take it to a BMW dealer as well. They need to do it correctly...drain the coolant as well from what I recall.

I was going to do it myself but it was a pita.

They've done a ton of these.
