I have a 2017 440i gran coupe and I just went stage 2(I have a intake and catless DP) yesterday from stage 1. Now my friend has the same exact car but stock besides a air intake and when I was stage 1 I would beat him by a considerable amount but when I went stage 2 last night and we raced from a 40-60-70 he was keeping up with me on all three. Hopefully someone one can help me figure out what’s going on.(I also have xHP stage 3 flashed)

As expected - your fuel simply isn't up for it. You have plenty of timing corrections and pre-knock detection. You either need to use higher octane pump fuel or start adding Ethanol for that map. Or downgrade the map. It is not mind-blowing what you have going on there, but I wouldn't drive like that. And as you see - you are not making power either, although I would not expect this setup to be slower than Stage 1, despite all the corrections.

Your timing is the issue, do you have access to E85? Try adding a few gallons to clean things up. With clean timing and higher octane fuel the car should run how it’s supposed to for stage2

I live in Southern California and would add 2-3 gallons to my “91 map” just cause the gas here is crap.

Because I do have access to ethanol just wasn’t sure if it was safe to run it without the TU HPFP

You can run it, just not full e85, the oem bmw hpfp can handle the OTS tunes up to an e40 mixture, which is more than the 2-3 you’re going to add to clean up timing.

Try to add the fuel which you need less of first, so it can mix better. Not sure where your gas level sits now. But generally add the e85 first

e85 first, when I would be closer to a full tank and added the e85, I would brake in a rhythm to slosh the tank around.. not sure if it actually did anything though

The gas isn't low quality. It's fine gas. It's just 91 max instead of 93 like in eastern states.

Octane rating (AKI in the US) is not correlated with quality.

Boost and IAT is fine but timing is still all over, had same issue at first with my 335i and e85 was the fix. i have a 340i and running an e40 tune heavier on e85 and still timing is on point. What tune are you using?
