I found Pennzoil Platinum w/ PurePlus "redesigned for turbocharged engines" 0W-20 but don't want to put that in until I'm sure it's okay. Keep in mind my intervals will always be within 5-6k miles as I don't like my car being on the same oil for too long.
BMW oil from the dealer is within a buck of most other brands.
In fact for my older 335d, Pentosyn product that is LL-04 is about a buck more.

Pennzoil is the current OEM supplier to BMW for oil. The one you note is probably exactly what BMW sells.

The car tracks straight, it's just the steering wheel is a bit off. I am planning to take it to the shop to have them check alignment again, and if necessary, have them adjust tie rods to make steering wheel straight.
Steering wheel index maybe off due to different tire sizes too. I had the same thing happen to me on another one of my car where my new set up is 1/2" wider than OEM and it threw off the steering wheel just a little.

Here in California, BMW dealers sell their TwinPower Turbo for about $7-9 a quart; seeing that my car needs about 5.25 quarts and BMW not selling full jugs, just buying enough alone will run me about $35-40.

I think I read that LL-04 is not to be used in petrol engines; only diesel but i could be wrong. Now that I think about it, I think Pennzoil Euro L Platinum (the one that I have seen online) may only fall within the LL-04 as you legit cannot find Pennzoil Euro Plat w/o the L designation with it.

I would want to use the 0W-20 Pennzoil Platinum w/ PurePlus that's for turbo engines (which is only about $22 for a full jug) but again, it does not have the LL-01 certification and I don't understand why it doesn't, LOL!

Around $10/qt here vs Castrol 5qt jug for $22 at Wally world. That's nowhere near close.

Lucky you gassers.

BTW, LL-04 oils can certainly be used in a gas engine. However, they won't last the 10K mile nominal distance, as they traded off TBN for low-SAPS. But since many people seem to still like 5K-7.5K intervals, that's not a problem. Gasoline is now generally low-sulfur in the USA/CA since 2017, which helps the gassers if you use ll-04.

Amusingly, even AMSOIL's site says you can use diesel oil in gassers

The Pennzoil 5w-30 that is LL-04 approved for diesels is also $22 for a 5qt jug here. I actually used it once but only went 5K miles.

0w20 is too thin for a turbo car. I'd replace it with 0w40 or 5w40 at the earliest convenience. Until then, drive like a granny.

Where do guys get this stuff (information). If it's a DD 0w20 is fine. I only recommend changing that if your actually into racing

I wouldn't get too hung up on the 0W-20. At 100C operating temp, the difference in viscosity is negligible. Look at the 2nd link in my post above. BMW has approved many oils with viscosity's other than 0W-20 for your engine. There is a Castrol 0W-30 A3/B4 listed.

Still not a good enough reason for me to shop at Walmart.
Nice to know, however. I'll have to look around...
