I've found my mileage is a little worse with my winter tires when comparing them to my stock all season tires (approx 11.5L/100km on winters vs. 10.5L/100km on my stock all seasons). For reference I am running RFT winters though.

So, what is the consensus on switching from the 19" staggered? I think I will go to 18" square 225/45/18 for the winter?

Any experience with replica wheels? Or am I better paying a little $ more for a quality Flow formed forged wheel Beyern Spartan?

^ I went from the 19" staggered to square setup as you mentioned. No problems. Depends on what you want to spend on wheels. There are tons of choices.

I am very impressed with the sottozeros so far. We haven't had snow yet to try them, but as far as comfort/quietness and handling go, they are pretty darn impressive.

This is my winter setup:

225/50R-17 Pirelli Winter Carving Edge Run Flat XL with 17x7.5 Sport Edition A7 rims from the Tire Rack. Picked up the wheels/tires in person in the US for about $1,240 USD.

Haven't tried them in the snow yet, however they are pretty quiet and the dry and wet handling is much better than expected!

^ Looks great.

I have the Michelin Xice 3 on my my F31 and the roads have been terrible here in Edmonton with all the snow. I would recommend them for sure.

So I booked an appointment to get a new set with SimplyTire. Went with the LM60 on the M5 replicas.

The surprise snow we got last night caught me offguard, and was sliding around a bit with the summer tires. :S

Just over $1900 after tax and everything. Is that around how much you paid?

Garage List
I just picked up (or am awaiting delivery of) a 2013 335xi sport F30.
I just traded in my 2011 X3 xDrive35i Msport. Before that I had a 2008 328i coupe.

On the 328i coupe I absolutely needed good winters. Even then I frequently got stuck in the snow with the Ottawa winters. The RWD did not do well, and I often got stuck in level parking lots...

With the X3 I wanted to see how the all season tires worked with the xDrive before I ran out and bought winter tires. I was shocked at how well it performed. The main thing about winter driving really comes down to understanding the conditions and being prepared to stop in time. With the AWD I found I never got stuck, so I was OK with it as it was, and just made sure to understand the braking conditions.

Now with the 335xi, i'm going to try it without getting winters and I'll see how it performs. If I find i'm sliding around too much i'll take the plunge. But I think i'm going to try it out and see if it's really needed or not. I'm anticipating not needing them, but I could be wrong...

If I were you, I'd get winter tires...You have no clue how awesome AWD is with winter tires...a real tank in the snow!

Below -7c the rip from all season tires is crap. Get winter tires put on your OEM wheels and then get a sweet 19" or 20" setup for summer.

Noise - No difference from the RF's that came with the car

Mileage - I'm still getting the same gas mileage as the All season RF's (10.2-10.1 km/l). It will be interesting to see how it changes over the course of the winter.
Drove through the first "snow storm" on Saturday and the winter tires felt great. No issues with noise and the grip felt great. I'm actually getting better mileage too.
