Screen Coding

I have a S606A ENAVEVO head unit is that HU_EntryNav2 (showing tiles)NBT Evo ID6 Business Nav on a 6.5in screen on a LCI F34 330i manufactured 12/17

I've just brought an 8.8in screen part number 6844126
8.8 CID Fx3 TOUCH.

I understand from previous posts that the "touch screen" facility will not work with my current head, but I'm not fussed about that
I would be more than happy with just the larger screen at present.

I have Bimmercode, can anyone tell me what I need to code in expert mode to get this bigger screen to work?

TIA

2014 328i

How do I check on whether my car has HU_entrynav so I can upgrade the screen?

Thanks,

Chris

screen swap

please ignore differences in display plastic backing if you have an f3x car

Ever Since I Ordered my m235i I regretted not ordering navigation not for the maps, As I always know where I'm going! (I'm kidding the iPhone maps are good enough for me) I wanted navigation because the 6.5 non nav display looks a little odd having a large plastic surround and the 8.8 looks much more crisp and refined totally lifts the whole look of the interior. After over a year with the 6.5 and doing the swap its night and day looks 100xs better I wish I did it the day I took delivery!

I couldn't justify spending $1950 for technology package just to get a larger screen, I know the package adds more features but I had no interest in them, this cost me $220 plus coding But since I got a bunch of features done at a flat rate it works out to less then $10 for the screens coding so under $250 all said and done

I didn't invent this mod it just seems like there is a ton of mis information even after I confirmed it would work, even looking for someone to code the screen was a challenge I contacted everyone I could. I receieved emails from a few professional looking bmw coding busineses responding unprofessionally with short answers like "won't work" "you won't have that entry" even after explaining exactly what needed to be entered, don't be discourage it works!

------------------------How it works------------------------

You need to have HU_entrynav not HU_Champ2 for this to work if your car was made either 03/14 or 07/14 later depending on model f2x/f3x check first

Tool(s): Torx T20

Part(s) (65509292248---f3x screen) or (65509292245---f2x) Obvious f22 screen is better choice but much more costly as f3x screens are pretty common to find used, maybe in the future the f22 screens will be the same prices but f3x screen fits just fine

All you need is the screen , Mine was out of an f30 (which is a different part number only because the back plastic plate is different Ill explain in the pictures)

I got the 8.8 screen for $220 Shipped (gotta love ebay!)

Video cable is the same you DO NOT need to buy a new one

Only have to code these two entries to read
HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display

The process is pretty self explanatory, pop the AC vents off by literally pulling them off (don't worry it takes some muscle but it won't break anything)
you don't even need to disconnect the wiring to lock button etc. just let it hang, Take the two t20 screws out and remove the video cable, reverse the process with the new screen and your done! just code and enjoy ( don't install until you're ready to code since it will be blank until coded But you can do the physical part of the swap in like 2 minutes

You can see here the difference in what the back of the plastic plates are between f30 and f22 but the f30 screen still fits the dash, and it seems like its going to be impossible to find A f22 plate since the whole screen is one bmw part number unless I find a broken f22 display or frankenstein the two together I'm going to just leave it for now

^^ You need to code the sport displays to enable them I'm pretty sure ^^

I hope this helps someone looking to do this mod or will show people who didn't even know this was an option that it work!

Hi,
I read all 19 Pages (so far).
And I thought I might try this as well but I have a hard time to find an LCI screen (part no. 9387453)

My BMW: F30 320D LCI Prod date: 31.11.2016 (American format 11.31.2016)
S606 Navigation system Business
RL_Entry_Nav_Nav_I15405A

And I Just saw one: Part no. 9389349 APIX2
https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-...73445-168-7584
I was wondering if it will work with my NBT?

I dont know if my NBT Supports Apix2 ^^...

Common Displays in DE Part No. 6550 6822626
should i get my hands on one of these?

2626 is entrynav2 which should be nbt Evo id5. If you have nbt or nbt Evo id4 7453 is the screen you need

Hi ... I have an 8.8inch screen for sale. I just retrofitted an id5 headunit and upgraded to 10.25inch screen. So selling the 8.8inch screen from 2016 f30 with nbt evo id4 headunit. It's APIX2 screen part number 7453.

The 8.8" screen also works okay without having to change this setting, so all you really need to change is EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE -> "breites_display"
I did this swap last night and saw my F34 had the same default resolution as yours. Initially I changed it to 8.8_1280x480 which worked fine, but then I saw a post by 'FreeSpirit' where he got 10.25_1600x600 to work and had better results with video playback. So I went back and made that change just for kicks... haven't really noticed much of a difference as I don't have video feeding to it currently. But I figured if the 6.5" can run 1280x480, then the 8.8" should be fine with 1600x600.

Also thanks for pointing out the color temp differences between the pre LCI and LCI displays. I definitely prefer the newer 9387543 one and saw one on eBay that had virtually no scratches and had a pretty late build date (10/16). It was listed for $300 but seller took my offer of $200... again gotta love eBay! Received it in 2 days and it's already in my car. Unplugging the video connector from the old unit was the hardest part as the orientation is different and you really have to squeeze and pull UP! Also initially I didn't plug it into the new screen firmly enough and it kept saying "no signal" even after coding... which kinda freaked me out. Anyway, here are some pics...

Just got my Hands on a 65509387453 8.8 Display from a 2016 328i (us Import) in Munich, Germany.
For the LCI users: dont be afraid of the pressure which is needed to Release/ losen the cables. They are supposed to be Heavy.

Needed to Code: (BimmerCode works just fine):

HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480

HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display

First, this is a fantastic thread, I only wish I found it earlier. I purchased a used 8.8" screen on a whim and installed it in place of my stock 6.5" screen. The install went smoothly but I am unable to find the following code in BimmerCode: HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480

My build date is 07/2013.

I was able to code HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display and the screen is currently reading "No Signal" which is expected until both codes are in.

Am I able to complete the retrofit or is my head unit not compatible with the larger screen? Thanks in advance.

Resolution code shouldnt really be needed, mine worked with just breites display.

What screen # did you buy?

626 is for entrynav2, it will not work with your vehicle without a voltage adapter (if at all)...but its not worth doing that.

the prelci 65509292248 and lci 9387453 screens are cheaper and just need simple coding to work. you can find 2248 for under $100 often on ebay and 7453 for between $120-160.

resell this screen and buy one of those two
