Car Jerked forward coming to a stop...

.Automatic... 41,000miles...rarely beat on my car... coming to a complete stop in sport mode and car jerked forward like I got tapped in the rear-end... 78degrees out and car just got warmed up... Parked it and let it sit for 30 minutes and then went back out to test... tested all modes etc after warmed up and it's fine... gotta go on a major road trip soon and really no time to take it in... anybody have this happen to them?

Yes. With BM3. I believe it was burble aggression related. Do you have aggressive burbles? 6MT

I searched high and low for similar problem and found absolutely nothing... hoping it was just a glitch...

It's like the clutch grabbed for a split second launching it... weird... hopefully just a one time glitch... maybe the car was mad at me for letting my wife drive it resulting in me not beating on it and wanted it's legs stretched... well they got stretched a little... lol....

I have experienced something similar. Cannot say if xHP or tune related.

This is definitely the transmission downshifting. It gets worse in sport transmission mode and is more apparent if you break harder at the last moment. Try braking sooner and more linear or coasting to the stop earlier.

Even in Manual mode the car will shift into first when the speedo is close to 0.

Have you done a transmission flush yet? This would definitely help.

Yes I'm thinking what you stated... basically what I was doing as you described braked harder at last moment... Haven't done the flush yet but will try in the next week or two...

Thanks for the comment!

Cool! I'm at 69K and the flush is my next maintenance item because those downshifts are annoying. Then come the engine mods

Usually a transmission fluid change fixes little shift quality issues like that. Note that you probably want a fluid change and not a flush.

How does a flush not include a change in fluid.....

They're different things. Generally, ZF recommends a change and new filter at around 60k miles but if you're an aggressive driver, 50k miles is probably better.

A flush involves using a ton of fluid and using a device to pump out old fluid and pump in new fluid (probably through the transmission cooler lines).

A change is just a simple drain, drop of pan, filter replacement, and top off with new Lifeguard 8. This refreshes about half of the fluid which should be fine for such an early service. It's usually a good deal cheaper and can be done at home if you've got a way to lift all four corners of your car level.

If anything can start discussion it is about the effects/need/importance of doing a flush...... I'll keep my opinion to myself not to kick off a war haha

I'm not sure why anyone would do a flush without changing the filter at the same time, but ok thanks.

I think you misunderstand. A flush is mainly different as it uses a machine to try to get all the fluid out of the torque converter and from all the transmission passages as much as possible. You can change out the filter in a flush as well.

A change simply changes out the fluid in the oil pan without trying to flush out all fluid. They are different things, but ZF simply recommends a change and a flush is probably not necessary at such low mileage.
