Question Service message question?

Hi Guys,
My car was built in March 2020 but wasn't registered till August 2020. My service status says next service due two years later on March 2022. It wasn't used from March to August in 2020 so should it not say service due August 2022. What is other folks experience on this. Thanks?

Service intervals are from build date.

Whilst not used the service is on mileage or time, so the oil and other fluids are still sat ageing and therefore need to be replaced.

Hard to imagine that oils and fluids would degrade sitting in an engine doing nothing any more than sitting in a can. No point in arguing with the manufactures though. At least the MoT will be from the registration date.

Absolutely agree, but I tend to change my oil every 12 months....even though since July 2020 I've done 500 odd miles.

2 years or 18k between oil changes is the other end of the extreme for BMW, way too long IMO.

For brake fluid I think it may be moisture content, but I'm no expert on the issue.

Yeah, brake fluid needs to be changed frequently, as it absorbs water over time.
