Best Aluminium Pedals?

I've got the bug & want to add a few bits to the new car.

Bought and fitted black chrome exhaust trims today. With the generally black theme to the car, these look much better than the original chrome ones.

Want to do the black grills at the weekend (was going to wait a bit, but I'm too impatient!) ... Are they easy to change?

I also want to get aluminium pedals .... am not sure which are best/fair priced and where to get them. Any suggestions?

I fitted these, look OK and very easy to fit, no drilling

Matching footrest cover

Black grills are easy to fit with a bit of patience. Bit fiddly to unclip the first one, but easily done in 15 minutes

Don’t get the aluminium MP style ones, I did and they bent after a short while!

The stainless steel ones listed above look like my current ones which are great!

I wanted some matching pedals too. But funds can be used better elsewhere... haha

I wouldn?t be happy with anything that just slides over the existing - won?t they come off potentially under emergency braking?

I?ve just order a set of the BMW ones - hope they?re ok.

Pretty much any of the eBay ones are fine on the auto. The brake one is incredibly difficult to take off, cannot slide off. I also put a few strips of 3m vhb on the accelerator to ensure it's on solidly.

The brake one attaches exactly the same as the standard rubber one that’s already on it!

Personally would have used JB Weld for added measure. Would be interesting see how VHB holds up on an application like that.

I have done this using aftermarket fittings from http://www.mstyle.co.uk

ALUMINIUM FOOT PEDAL SET, MANUAL £49.92
ALUMINIUM FOOTREST, AVAILABLE FOR ALL MODELS £26.04

The products are pretty good quality, 3mm thick machined Aluminium with quite thick rubber backing/grips. They come pre-drilled and counter sunk.

The only gripe is that the footrest is designed for all models and isn’t a perfect fit. I decided to alter mine, which to be honest it wasn’t a huge job, and all I did was hacksaw the top corner off at an angle that allowed it to sit closer to the inner foot well. Once cut to shape file the metal to give a smoother edge (as in the picture) This means it sits tighter and gives you a bit bigger gap between the foot rest and the clutch pedal. You will also need to trim any excess rubber with a pair of good scissors.

Total cost £100 including shipping.....Go do it now, and rid the world of rubber pedals!

Those are fake AC Schnitzer. I'm a little disappointed to read that you got them from M Style, seeing as they are one of our dealers!

But why did AC Schnitzer get so expensive Lorcan? I know the brexit argument but I'm finding more and more the prices are less competitive.

For example, currently looking at the potential for a set of springs on my M3; Eibach around £2-300, ACS now £620

Are they that much better?

That's not a defence against IP theft

AC Schnitzer has always been expensive, it's a premium brand, properly developed and AC Schnitzer are a small volume, BMW-specific manufacturer. The M3 springs are particularly expensive I agree, but they do sell well and get brilliant feedback from customers. Are they twice as good? Probably not. Are they the best springs for your car? Yes.

Agreed - no excuses and something that concerns me greatly in all walks of life.

You should be in sales...

Why are they the best is what I'm wondering....

EDIT: Lorcan - perhaps you could PM me with a price including fitting for these springs? Just seen a car on another forum with the ACS fitted - rather nice

AC Schnitzer put a lot of effort into their suspension products with the aim of optimizing each component for performance, while retaining ride quality for everyday use. Appearance is a consideration, but secondary to performance. Development consists of road tests, track tests and durability testing on suspension jigs. As BMW-only tuners, AC Schnitzer are able to to develop each product to a higher standard than a spring manufacturer that has to supply all brands at once.

30 years of experience tuning BMWs and the individual talents of touring car driver Manfred Wollgarten go into every kit.
