Specsavers?

Having seen a few 6GT around recently, I have surprised myself by not hating the look of it. It’s a long way from beautiful, and has too much rear bulk, but in the metal they look better than I imagined, and quite different to the 5GT which I can’t look at on a full stomach.

Time for an eye test? Early-onset dementia?

I'm with you. They are not too bad and a huge improvement over the 5GT

Wouldn't be hard to be better looking than the 5GT but they are still well along the ugly spectrum!!

A relief to know it’s not just me. They are actually remarkably good value too. The one pictured is a pre-reg with delivery miles at just under £40k despite having Comfort Seats, Nappa leather and all of the usual kit. It’s a high spec 3/4 Series price although it will drop like a stone of course. https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/2...9-0fd8139ec24a

I am with you. A 640i xdrive May be my next car, if I can get one at the right price in a couple of years...

Looks like those of us who at least don’t mind the looks are still in the minority (3 vs 5 so far) but it’s closer than I imagined! From the front it looks like any large BMW to me. The rear is a bit more of a challenge.

The X6 is a whole step closer to insanity. It’s not just the looks, it’s the whole idea of an SUV in coupé form which makes no sense. If I reach that point, I hope I still have enough marbles to make it to Switzerland unaided.

But the 6GT is a 5 Series Tourer in ugly form!

6 GT = Fat Ginger bird.

She might be spacious and accommodating but not something you would show your mates.

Even though could handle half the rugby team without breaking a sweat.

I had one as a loan car recently for a day. Big barge yes, nightmare to park at supermarkets yes, but bloody hell was it a step up from the 3 series f30 for tonnes of reasons. It rode and absorbed bumps beautifully even on the 20" rims it wore. Interior quality and gadgets were great. It even had an Electrically adjustable steering wheel for God's sake...
The rear end is fat for sure, but the benefit was a boot that would happily swallow a big load...

Remarkable good value because it’s heavily discounted as a pre reg and then will drop like a stone!!! Not sure that’s value in my view. Sounds like a liability to me.

That's stunning value. I've sat in a few and the interiors have always impressed me more than anything else in the showroom - I guess because they tend to be more highly specced than a 5.

They appear to give everything I love about my 4GC, except the looks, but with added boot practicality (height) and a huge jump in quality and refinement.

Whilst they don't compare well with a 4GC on looks (IMHO), I don't think they are much less elegant than the 5-series overall and the front is streets ahead of the (admittedly ageing) F30.

I'd definitely consider one if I was thinking of a big practical non-SUV.

You do realise that a 630d xDrive is only 60kg more than the X3 M40d that you are toying with? Does anyone really notice a performance/handling difference when the wife gets in or out of the passenger seat
