Climate protests
I agree to a point..
Now it's just a bunch of people without jobs and likely funded by mummy and daddy being a pain. Adam Boulton summed it up nicely watch the video https://news.sky.com/story/climate-c...sport-11696014 |

I agree with the message, and we do need to do something (Although it's probably too late to stop things) The people now involved have devalued the effectiveness of the protest with outlandish demands that could never be achieved.

London is at least trying to do something about the environment with the ULEZ and congestion charge. If they are trying to say something about the impact of people working in them then perhaps dont target public transport (which has to be better than everyone using their own)... or maybe try some of the cities doing nothing about it. Like Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore....maybe even New York....
Amazing how many of them smoke too, not sure that is good for the environment.... roll ups too! Walking up Park Lane (in the road) to get a picture of the newly refurbished Hard Rock Hotel London that launches on 30th April (shameless plug!) was quite cool though.... Trying to get by car from Knightsbridge to Bake Street (Portman Square end) wasnt! |

While I'm sympathetic to taking steps to improve the environment, I can't say I am fully behind public protests that basically target helpless individuals.
If my already tortuous journey to work was delayed by an hour or two by banner-waving protestors, my first thoughts probably wouldn't be "what a great bunch of guys".

This climate catastrophe bolleaux has been going for decades and I can't think of even one prediction of disaster has actually materialised - the idea that there is a "climate emergency" is laughable.
These are political protests by rich kids with nothing better to do and middle aged hippies. The police should go and round them all up and throw them in the cells for a night if they continue to cause trouble. |

Admittedly I do not care much for their cause, but kudos to them on their protest.
They have just proved to every lunatic that wants to blow themselves up or shoot innocent people that you don't need to do that to draw attention to your cause. |

Climate change is caused by the daily habits of billions of people the only way to reverse it is for those billions of people to change what they do, there is no other way.
That's the inconvenient truth, no amount of alternative conspicuous consumption will solve the issues caused by conspicuous consumption.

So Emma Thompson flies all the way from LA to speak to this bunch.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-47987891 Errrr....doesn’t the shitload of CO2 put out by the plane she came over on especially for this rather contradict the ‘wholesome’ message she is giving from her ivory tower?? |

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-46258584 Shame he sold them. I was looking forward to them being used against protestors if Brexit was overturned in another referendum. There was something appealing about the idea of his water cannons being used against his supporters... |

It's a tricky one for the police. How much force do you use on peaceful protesters? Too much and the police are criticised. Go softly softly and they are criticised. No win situation. |

I'm hoping the protesters can swim to make the trip a bit more interesting. |

I wouldn't take the "it's all scaremongering" articles of the las few years to be 100% reliable either. Wish it was, I've always eaten way too much steak and bacon. |
