Installed BMS Clutch Stop
I just installed the BMS Clutch Stop in my 6MT F30. It was a pretty easy install, you don't need to take out a panel to install it like the e9x. You can see the clutch stop behind the brush cover behind the clutch pedal. I just reached in there and yanked out the tiny rubber clutch stop and inserted the BMS Clutch Stop in under 30 secs. The Clutch feels much shorter without all that dead space. I didn't have any trouble starting up the car with the clutch fully depressed. Now it feels like the clutch engages at about 20% from the floor and as opposed to 50% from before. It's only $10 shipped from Burger Motorsports or I read you can make your own for under $5. I like it a lot more as it feels more manageable and a little bit less work
Sorry I tried taking pics but it was pretty tough getting the camera in the tight spots. You can actually feel around in there where the clutch stop is. Last edited by bmwm311; 07-03-2012 at 07:36 PM.. |

Both my E46 325i and current 135i both needed a clutch stop. You should put a stop in there, it does make a noticeably positive difference. I've never modded the CDV's in either car. Once the stop is in place, my biggest complaint is gone. I'm surprised that BMW still refuses to address that aspect of the MT's. For my 335i Msport I won't have to deal with it, cause I decided to try the sport AT. |

Is there a reason why the clutch pedal has that much travel? And also, what happens when the clutch gets hot, is there fade (the clutch point is much closer to the floor)? Just curious if this stop would affect it in any way negatively.

Thanks for sharing this! I too felt the clutch was a little deep when I was driving around in Europe. Just ordered one as well - and good to know we don't have to take the panel off.
