2015 BMW 428I Coupe Alignments problem

     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
F32 428i Coupe, 2015 model, Has anyone else had alignment problems? I'm a average driver, but in the past 2-3 years I've had several alignments that no one can solve, but they have no problem taking my money. I've had vehicles in the past that never needed a alignment just rotate & balance.

At this age and unsure of your mileage, control arm bushing are sure to be starting to wear thin, cracking or leaked out.

I had mine at 45k miles back in 2020 when my car was 6 years old. Xdrive tends to wears those out quicker due to the extra weight up front.

Not only will this usually solve your alignment (excessive play in the joints that can’t be aligned due to being out of spec), but ride quality also improves. I’ve now done a full front suspension refresh and koni shocks and struts and the ride, while firmer than stock, feels really planted and translates much of the road in a composed manner.

Our cars don’t have any stock camber adjustment upfront so if that’s rhe issued typically it’s the wishbone control arm or the strut hat. Fortunately control arms are not only affordable but fairly easily diy’d if you have the time and a couple of tools and a video to reference.

Do you have any of the alignment sheets of a few of the last alignments?

These cars should get fairly regular alignments. I think once a year is good practice for those of us maintaining these cars for the long run. The rotate and balance of tires is simple for tire wear and ensuring even wear, and while alignment affects that as well, it is more for the sake of handling characteristics to ensure the wheels are planted, then tire wear second

Yes check the bushings on your thrust arm. If they are leaking, they are done. Mine were toast at 55K.

Ensure that all suspension parts (shocks, thrust & control arms, ball-joints & bushings, etc.) are in good working order prior to alignment. Otherwise, you're just wasting money.

What problems are you having with the alignment specifically?
