F30 - name your best feature and your worst?

Just one of each allowed...

Best = the rush from 30-50

Worst = diesel grumble at low speeds in Eco pro

is that possible? I was thinking about getting some chrome/mirror looking tape and cover the sensor.

Worst things (and a glaring few that I've never heard mentioned oddly...)
  • You cannot brake the car to a stop smoothly from creeping speed. Almost impossible. As you're almost there the brakes just grab and it jerks.
  • Also... The tranny loves to downshift as I brake. Great... Except it's messing with my brake input on every shift. Jerk, jerk, jerk.... Jerk(above) stop.
  • Also related... It's almost impossible to start creeping in a smooth way. You slowly release the brakes and the damn transmission or torque converter or whatever hell they use just grabs abruptly. Seems like they disconnect the tranny when stopped to help fuel economy but the re-engagement is ridiculous.
  • No seriously... Did they not test drive it enough during R&D? The above are just ridiculously noob.
  • Whoever designed the iDrive menu system, UI, and button mapping should be slapped. Repeatedly. Outsource that crap to Apple if you have to next time... Noobs.
  • Is there no way to pause or stop play of a song? Serious question. How the eff do you pause? Or stop? There is none, only mute!? What!?
  • Wheel vibrates at 70kph.
  • Auto start stop is annoying.

The best...
  • It is just such a gorgeously designed car inside and out. I can stare at it all day.

WOW you have a lot of worst and I am happy that I am not experiencing your mechanical issues. Maybe because I got manual 6spd but also keep in mind car needs to be broken in to run smoothly.

as for iDrive it was built by you fellow country men RIM with their stubborn backwards thinking.(no offense)

ASS works flawless with manual. if your at a red light put car in neutral and car shuts off. light turns green sink clutch and put in gear once you touch clutch car starts. if you are in stop and go traffic you wont be in neutral so ASS never kicks in, so pretty much you are in control of the A.S.S.

I think the only real issue is the wheel vibration, which I'm not alone with. All else seems to be simply a by-product of the design, and limited to the auto.

Never knew the UI was designed by RIM. Hilarious! And how are they doing these days... ;-)
Nah not cool to bag on RIM.

Yes. I wondered whether anyone else noticed this. They all do it.

Except Apple outsources a lot of its UI work.
The only innovative aspect of the iPod, for example, was the interface - which Apple outsourced.

Best feature: the angel eyes
Worst feature: the centre rear seating position is so uncomfortable due to the hard seat padding and the wide transmission tunnel. I'm glad I'm the driver!

Dont have the premium pkg so no garage opener.

With Auto Dim I feel like I cant make out anything behind me other than lights. I am not able to tell make, model or colour at night time and I have 20/10 vision. Makes me feel uncomfortable not knowing if I am being paced when over the speed limit. Would be nice to know when to reduce speed.

The idea to use the wheel to navigate came from Phil Schiller and the UI was designed by Tim Wasko (at Apple). Tim had worked with Steve before (at NeXT).

Device UIs are not outsourced. If they were your phone would look like the iDrive...

Check your history, guys - but make it something other than the Apple approved version. I would detail it, but this is well off-topic already and the OP was looking for two line pro/cons. I should have left HairTooLongToo's gratuitous reference alone.
