My daughter had been promised a phone upgrade if she did well in her SATs. Really useful/timely link - saved me £140.

I've been toying with this or the security camera. I keep reading/hearing mixed reviews about both.
For the doorbell its that by the time you get an alert and connect on your phone the person has gone as it takes too long and for the camera it's so sensitive, even with it turned down, trees set it off so drive people insane.

I've already splurged on various things now anyway and have banned myself from Amazon until tomorrow!

Just had my son in floods of tears on the phone as his come home with his results and they are just below the expected level in all his SAT tests. We wil need to make sure it doesn't knock his confidence moving forward to secondary school.

Although his school report is very good.

Just picked up Forza 4 Horizon Ultimate edition for £39, down from £79 (Windows 10 download version as I do not have a Xbox One).

Tell him that it really doesnt matter - out of all of my primary school friends the one that has gone on to greatest things was the one who was worst at tests but best at real life and getting stuff done!

And my daughter was never as academic as my son but in the world of work, one has found it easier to adapt than the other...

Yeh I know, but she had a battered iPhone 5S which was on its fifth screen, and a bubbly screen protector.

I thought she'd appreciate not being the kid with the shit phone for secondary school.

Can't say my wife was happy though. Looks like daughter's Christmas present budget has just taken a hit.

Phew, I'd been building up a backlog of orders prior to Prime Day and ordered 17 different items after hours scouring the main deals and lightning deals. Managed to get deals on most of the things I wanted.

Car-related highlight was a new Nilfisk E145.4-9 for £169, replacing my trusty E130 which failed two weeks ago (hose connection) after almost a decade.

Also picked up a second fire stick for £20 for the new car, Google Wi-fi whole home, Canon printer, an iron, Fire8 for kids tablet, Gtech handheld vacuum. A good few hundred quid saved across the whole lot.

Impulse purchases were restricted to small things such as Duracell batteries and four different autoglym products.

ETA - was sorely tempted to jump on the iPhone XS Max deals as they were great savings and I'm planning to get the XI/11 Max when it launches, but didn't want to impulse buy £1k+. Might regret that when I see the XI pricing...
