Sticky brake?

Hi ,

I have a F30 and the last week or so when coming to move the car from being parked I hear a loud cracking from the right front brakes . It only does it when reversing too , any ideas ?
I've read it may be sticky pads or worn discs ?
the car has done 33k .
Any advice on what to look for would be great

Thanks

Is this after you have washed the car or it's been raining and been stationary for a time. If so may be the pads just sticking to the discs once the water has evaporated.

If the discs have a large lip at the edge this could also cause it.

I used to get this on my old 330 all the time, after it had been sitting for a while. As above, am pretty sure it was just the pads sticking, never seemed to cause any issues/damage in the 3 or so years it happened.

When were the brake pads replaced or the last time brakes were serviced?

It does it when it's been stood overnight mainly but never when I setoff moving forwards , only in reverse .
Pads or discs have never been changed as of yet , was just a little worried as it sounds quite loud .

I'll get the pads checked to see if it is that sticking

cheers for the advice so far !

Pads 'rusting' to the discs is the most likely, I think.

Could also be pad knock. Parking the car forwards would move the pads in their calipers if there was some slightly greater tolerance. Manoeuvring the car into reverse and then releasing the brakes would drag the pads 'rearwards' until they hit the opposite face in the caliper housing.

I get it with my Stoptech brakes, but it's a knock rather than a crack.

If the weather is wet I make sure I do a long/firm stop before I park my car. Enough to get some heat into the discs and pads so that they dry while the car is parked.
