F32 435i RHD to LHD headlight conversion

Dear fellow bimmerfreaks,

I bought a UK F32 435i and I live in Belgium, so I bought new headlight housings from Magneti Martelli. Install all went like butter and no issues.
And then the misery began, I'm having problems with the projection of my lights. I have bi-xenon adaptive lights from factory and now the same but just with EU headlights instead of UK.

The lightbeam pattern is completly f*cked and noone can resolve on how to fix this.

What I am sure is that the xenon module has same partnumber for LHD and RHD so I don't think that's the issue. But something is fucking with the light patern... Is there anyone who can help me out?

I need to fix this in order to complete the import of my car... For now it has been stuck on my driveway for 2 weeks now

Looks like one light is LHD and the other is RHD.

Have you coded the car properly?

They are not plug and play.

I have not coded the car yet. Original it had xenon adaptive and I just replaced it again with xenon adaptive, only different housing.

What do I need to code?

That light pattern is formed not with coding, but with the shape of the shutter behind the projector. I think they sent you two different headlights.

Other cars have a a screw or nut that you can adjust the headlight lens through it to the top, bottom or left and right not sure in Bmw though

Please post a clear pic of the labels on both headlight assemblies.

According to a website, The Headlights in question are paired

45 - RHD Left
46 - RHD Right
47 - LHD Left
48 - LHD Right

You have 46 and 47.....a RHD Right and a LHD Left

You need 47 (which you have) and 48 where you have 46.

Furthermore you state these are Xenon Adaptive.

They are NOT ADAPTIVE/AKL.

EDIT: See below for more info.

That is incorrect.

OP is in EU, not USA. As thus, Adaptive AKL Xenons have the shutters for "light bending" that the USA Xenon Models do not.

Unless the coding is changed a RHD to LHD, the command for the Shutter Control will be sent to the incorrect side.

The Adaptive/AKL are in the 50 range, not the 40s, as yours are.
Okay so I have a RHD headlight and a LHD headlight. Correct?
And the new ones aren't AKL Adaptive. Correct?

I will call the company tomorrow, return them and I'll just buy BMW OEM. Will be more expensive yes but will be fixed.

Btw, these where the OEM headlights:

Now I am seeing contradictory information.

I have been using autodoc.de to find the Aftermarket Part Numbers you have listed. Unfortunately, the site is in German and I am using Google Chrome to translate as I do not speak German.

There are contradiction in the descriptions. Not sure why as I cannot understand the full page in proper context. This info says the headlights ARE the correct ones 🤷🏼

I still believe what I said originally is an issue that needs addressing regardless. The shutters that form the "light bending" need to be coded for proper operation on the correct side.

Okay I see. What's the best way to code these? Bimmercode or Esys? I have someone coming with both. Will look how and what..

Another questions, how do you find part numbers because none of the numpers on that sticker have part numbers on them.. Not that I can see anyways..

I was using the OEM Part number for EU LHD LIGHTS and searching for that number on the autodoc site as I knew they had the MM lights that you stated you purchased.

I believe eSys is needed for changing car from RHD to LHD.

Okay I see, basicly the numbers on those stickers are worthless for finding part numbers...

I'll get someone to drop by with Esys and help me figure this mess out.. I hope this is software because I'm tired of noone knowing what it is...

The stickers from the OEM are for the RHD so of course they are worthless.

These are the LHD EU versions of Xenons with AKL. You simply need to cross reference.

So, just a quick update:

I bought the OBDLink MX+ and Bimmercode, I coded the lights from RHD to LHD (the adaptive and high beam assist part). No changes as expected, mailed the store that sold the lights and they got a new one from their supplier. They will double check this time it's a LHD and will call me if it's correrct and I can exchange.

So yes, I got one LHD and one RHD light.

New update:

Bought new headlights second hand OEM BMW, non adaptive and light patern is perfect now. Turns out it where the wrong headlights.

Now I still used the adaptive module (Circuitboard) but the car gives errors as expected. Also the high beam and daytime running lights (the eyes) won't work. Normal light and blinkers work. Can the adaptive module be coded to non adaptive or do I need to buy entire new circuit boards? Any help would be appreciated!
