NBTevo Wifi Antenna Installation
Good afternoon to all,
Going to install a wif antenna into my NBTevo head unit this week and have come across some conflicting information. Some videos instruct me to disconnect the negative terminal on my battery and some videos dont include those instructions. My question is, which one is the correct/safest way? |

It's always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on anything electrical, lest you throw a code.

I didn't when I installed mine. No issue, just plugs into the port in the back.

It's typically not really needed, but is "good hygiene" when you do work on the car.
That being said, last time I pulled my head unit, I just released the giant connector off the back with the battery connected. I don't recall on that connector, but many have a longer pin for ground so all the other connections disconnect and ground is last, which eliminates an issues. |

You pop the trunk, release the fabric cover, and remove the negative terminal. As a FYI, after you connect it and take it for a driver, you will probably get a bunch of "fake" warnings from the safety systems as they all reset again and it should be fine again (can be a bit unnerving if you've never experienced it before! ) |

No worries! Had an issue where I needed to disconnect my battery, and the next drive scared the crap out of me with the Christmas tree of warnings. Perhaps if I had reconnected, and let it sit for a while it would have been fine, who knows.

Always disconnect your battery when working on electrical components. It may not harm anything at all if you don't, but doing so completely removes the possibility.
Agree on the error codes, don't worry about them because it will look like doomsday when they happen. For me, it always happens after I back out my driveway and go down the road just a little bit. I can't remember exactly what it says, but it was pretty alarming. Just keep driving like normal and it will clear itself in just a few seconds.

While there's no specific "prep" as others have said, it is maybe a good idea to make sure the trunk/boot can't close while the battery is disconnected. You could just put something in the way to prevent it latching closed.
