It is safe but be aware that the M Performance Exhaust (MPE) is not the same as the MPPSK exhaust. They are very different as discussed on many occasions in the forum.

Bottom line - you will not be getting a "MPPSK" if you do as intended. Which doesn't mean it is unsafe.

was it welded or did you use clamps, any pics? anyone else did the same, please share pics of how you installed it and/or where to cut if you're only installing the MPPSK exhaust axle back... this is what I'm looking to do.

thanks

I installed the full MPPSK cat back system with the OEM sleeve clamp between the mid section and silencer.

This guy installed a resonator in the MPPSK mid section?

I was thinking of ordering it from sites, having it shipped to me and taking it in.

I am awaiting a call back from the closet dealership to see if they would but haven't heard back yet.
So I'm considering the same thing. The only issue i'm now thinking about would be the shipping / large and heavy package containing the exhaust. Seems like a bitch to manage if you dont have extra storage for it and a large suv / truck to haul it over to the dealer in

You could ask the company where you are buying the exhaust from to see if they can have it shipped to the BMW dealer or location of your choice. I know when I was looking to buy the MPPSK brand new, I was going to have the company ship it to the closest BMW dealer to me so I wouldn't have to manage and figure out how to get the big box there.

Hope that helps..

Where is the best / cheapest place to pick up and retrofit an MPPSK now? I have a 2017 F30 340i. Can you still get them from the main stealer? Watched a few videos and it sounds pretty tasty compared with the stock offering, nice kit but does seem a tad pricy lol

Got mine done at Berry Chiswick for £1700 back In jan

https://www.berryheathrowbmw.co.uk/s...und-kit-offer/

Cost breakdown was £1500 plus £200 fitting cost. (Carbon tips)

Given it also involves the mild tune also being applied I think it’s dealer fit only.

Yes it’s expensive but well worth the money for me.

After reading through multiple threads about the MPPSK , I decided to get a price from the dealer yesterday. I thought their quote was decent, so I'm going to pull the trigger on it...Really like the idea of an on/off switch with sport mode, and I haven't seen too many other options that had that functionality..

You won't be disappointed at all! I love mine and love the fact that it still retains the OEM valve functionality. Which was a huge factor in my decision making of getting the MPPSK!

Are you going with the carbon fiber tips?

Can only echo the above!! The valve control and link to Sport mode is crucial! Wouldn't have gone for it without it!

Agreed!

Skyhigh, have you noticed that if you turn off traction control (hitting it once) the exhaust valves open. However, in this mode the bangs/pops/gunshots are not engaged as in sports/sports+. Its just another way to enjoy the system without being too obnoxious! (add to this by putting the trans in S and its a hoot without the bangs)

Never tried it. (Never disable traction control, except by default in Sport+).
Will try out of curiosity… 👍🏼

Quote was ...and I don't have it in front of me, so round numbers... $3100 parts,$350 labor(think it was 2.5 hrs)...plus tax, so about $3700 in total, that would be with the stainless tips. Not cheap, but we only have 1 dealer in town, so it is what it is..

The stainless steel tips are excellent and look good on the car. Give the car a good clean look. I have done both. I started with the stainless steel tips and then moved to the CF. Really more for looks, of course. I have a silver car and it is the shadow sport version and the original oem tips were black. Iso I wanted that same look, this I bought the CF tips and put them on myself.

I tried it. You are right! It does open the valves for whatever reason
Learned something new.
Not sure what it is good for, but good to know nevertheless As you say - a different permutation and way to enjoy the exhaust.
