Dynamic Brake Force Display.
I don't see this discussed here on F30POST. The BMWUSA site is hard to navigate. Is this a thing for the F3# platform?
The Dynamic Brake Force Display show drivers behind you how heavily you’re braking and allow them to react in good time. This drastically reduces the danger of a rear-end collision. The brake lights themselves are divided into two zones. During normal braking, only one zone is illuminated. When heavy braking is detected, Brake Force Display increases the intensity of the brake lights by illuminating the second zone as well. In addition, the hazard lights are activated just before the vehicle comes to a standstill. The hazard lights are deactivated automatically when the vehicle accelerates or by pushing the button. ..... or must this be coded ...... Last edited by G30 B58; 07-09-2014 at 06:05 AM.. |

When you brake hard, the brake lights are flickering (go on/off quickly). I noticed this once, when my rear window was very dirty and showed me the glow of the top brake light.
This is also described in the German manual (07/2013). Maybe in the US, the lights are intensified instead of flickering... |

US cars don't have it - it's against DOT regulations - along with a lot of other useful things...

Like rear fog lights.
But, as mentioned, can be coded.

Are you sure? I have these settings stock as the car is Euro spec, so if it will help, I will copy paste all my ESS_ settings and post them here. Hopefully that will get it working for you

I haven't forgotten about the settings list, but E-Sys is facing some problems following my Laptop's SSD swap. Will post shortly.

I found some more modules, not sure if they are relevant or not, but I will post them because they have to do with lighting + brakes.
Edit: Modules posted below. AWBL_VERBAUT Description (Translated): Comment = Below this speed threshold is kept the risk value for WB_GB . ESS_ECE reset ( off ) falls below this speed threshold . From this speed threshold ( upwards ) , an active WBL is ( triggered by emergency braking ) disabled . [km / h] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=0A) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_GEFAHRENWERT_MIN Description (Translated): Comment = danger value 'G' , wherein the WBL is turned on when the minimum speed is not reached. [ Value x 10 ] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte 00,46) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_DEAKTIVIERUNG_GESCHWINDIGKEIT Description (Translated): Comment = Speed . To turn off the WBL function (if Acceleration value can not be accepted ) [km / h] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=1E) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_ENABLE Description (Translated): Comment = automatic activation WBL at GB ( ECE / US ) Set to: aktiv (Values from ECU: Werte=01) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_AKTIVIERUNG_GESCHWINDIGKEIT Description (Translated): Comment = speed threshold for activating the function warning flashing in emergency braking when ESS was previously active [km / h] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=14) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_ERSATZ_BEI_ABS Description (Translated): Comment = Replacement delay in ABS - control intervention to calculate the risk value ' G' . [ Value x 0.5m / s ^ 2 ] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=0A) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_LOESCHZEIT Description (Translated): Comment = time after the risk value ' G' to delete . [sec] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=03) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_EXPONENT Description (Translated): Comment = exponent for warning Term ( W = a ^ exponent ) for Berechnug risk value G Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=03) ----------------------------------- WB_GB_BESCHLEUNIGUNG Description (Translated): Comment = min . Acceleration in the hazard warning lights flashing again is disabled . [ Value x 0.1m / s ^ 2 ] Set to: wert_01 (Values from ECU: Werte=14) ----------------------------------- Now I'm not sure which light the WBL refers to, but, it's clear that this system has something to do with BFD/Lighting/ESS. Any input would be very appreciated, as this would help expand everyone's FEM_BODY knowledge.
