I have seen a number of reported cases and hence why asked. Mine is basically unusable as it is constant restarts. I have been updating to all latest firmware and apps but no luck.

Based on responses my next though was either install older autoplay apps OR look to buy another carplay adapter from another brand and give it a try.

How does this head unit do with Logic7 and Harmon Kardon? I'm using settings from https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=954719 and it sounds awesome. I'd like to keep the settings as posted in the thread but am unsure if the equalizer is as advanced in the Arduino head unit. Any insight would be appreciated.

I use the same settings and the sound goes via the car amp so for me the sound doesn't differ much except volume. It's really depending on the audio source though

Have they made one that works with id6 yet? I retrofitted id6 hu but i would like bigger screen. However i dont want to lose touchscreen functionality from id6

Hello guys, would be great if you could help me.

I installed my new Android 7.1 HU and I can't manage to set the full brightness on this device. If I do it will automatically gets back to half the screen brightness (stays full for a second then switch back). In the settings at Display it says: Automatic screen brightness set off. So how can I fix this?

I Think it's really way to dark during daytime and like this the unit isn't really usable. Maybe it need software update to fix this ? Please help !

brightness is related to bmw lights status. When lights are on, brightness cuts to half or so...

Hey thanks for the answer,

so there is no way to fix this ? I always have to use the screen on half brightness , since it's way more safe to drive with light switched on even during daylight ? There must be a software solution to this , because the screen stays on full brightness for a second and then switch back. I hardly believe that everyone drives with half screen brightness on their HUs.

You dont need to drive with the lights on during daylight
Thats what daylight lights are for (the circular leds in your headlights), these are always on when you turn ignition on...

And no, you cant modify this behavior with software since the screen brightness is controlled by the MCU and there is no way to customize it, nor the source code is available.

I know it's poor form but I can't sit down and read through 67 pages and several search attempts didn't get me very far at all. I don't need a detailed run through or explanation, i'm sure someone's search-fu is much better than mine and can just point me to the post I'm looking for.

I have a navifly unit, which as far as I can tell is identical or nearly identical to the ugode one. Everything seems to be working fine (finally) but now apps are getting killed (or crashing) in the background.

For example I can't use Waze or Sygic at the same time as a Podcast player, it'll work for a few seconds and then the podcast player shuts down.

Is there any way to fix this? Apparently Podcast+google maps is working fine, but i'd REALLY like to be able to use Waze for the speed cam info and such.

Hi! I just installed this unit on my bmw 320d f30 my 2012, previously I had the 6.5" display, I noticed that with this new unit, I cannot turn on the screen when the car is turned off, unless I click the Start/Stop button.
With the original screen I could turn on the screen pressing the middle of the volume button. Anyone have this issue?

This didn't work for me.
After the unit reboots, the auto killer is activated again.


When you stop the eventcenter in the settings and let the unit re start it autmomatically, the task killer is gone.
So I presume that this is what is happening when you "reinstall" it. The reinstallation is, at the end of the day, just the stopping and starting the EventCenter.


Other question: have you used any SD-Card above 64 GB on the unit? I got a 256GB card which after some time starts to fail (yes, it is a genuine one which works fine if i attach it through a USB card readeron the unit).

I got myself a 128GB card. When this card is inserted, the Unit crashes after 30 - 60 minutes. It looks like my unit does not like SD-Cards in the slot, as the "GPU Driver" seems to crash when there is a card inserted. In the background, the unit still does its stuff like playing music etc. But I guess the GPU Driver crashes and isn't being recovered.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue when using a SD card?

It appear the Android 8 version of this head unit is set for release early November. I'll probably hold off until it's released to get one of these. I am hoping there are minimal bugs since I believe it's mostly just an updated/os processor versus the current iteration.

Android 8 brings with it LDAC bluetooth codec which should allow for very high quality bluetooth streaming.. excited about that.

For those of us who didn't have any kind of navigation in the car as stock, I understand the GPS antenna is different than those that had Business or Pro navigation. For starters, the cable runs to the trunk and not to the head unit in the dash.

The GPS reception with the Ugode antenna (or Navifly, in my case) is hit and miss. It works great when it works, and then very poorly or not at all when it doesn't, so I've purchased a 3m long splitter so I can use the original shark fin antenna.

Has anyone without a factory GPS done this? Is the signal any good? Is it affected by having to run 3 meters worth of splitter from the trunk to the dash? I'm concerned that BMW specced a cheaper, lower sensitivity antenna for cars without Navi given that it is only used for Remore Services and SOS... And it might no be any improvement or even be worse than the Ugode external one.
