2013 F30 Engine Coolant Low

Hi guys, I have a 2013 328i xDrive. So, there's a snowstorm since last night until this morning when I start up my car (temp was 22F) and the engine coolant low message pops in the dashboard and the iDrive, telling me to top it off. Side note, I bought this car 1 and a half month ago. My questions:

1. Is the weather causing this?

2. How do i check for any leaks?

3. Since am not flushing the whole coolant out and just top it off, should I buy and top if off with https://www.autozone.com/antifreeze-...20593_668546_0 or just get a distilled water from walmart?

Thanks, guys I really appreciate it!

Cold weather tends to cause these cars to throw that warning. Often, the coolant is just fine. As long as you don't see any leaks, there's nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't necessarily ignore the message. Check the level. Normally for that to trigger at the first sign of significant cold temperature change, your coolant level was probably a little low, but still in the normal range. If you need to top it off, I would use BMW or equivlant mixed at 50/50 with distilled water. Do not recommend just adding water, as doing so reduces the effectiveness of the antifreeze. Just my $0.02
