1) Companies like BMW advertise CHP. Dynos measure WHP and sometimes try to calculated CHP based off of it. BMW advertises 300 CHP so they ensure they have a comfortable margin above that, such as 320 CHP. WHP, which includes all the mechanical loses. This could result in 260-300 WHP at this CHP (I don't know what's typical for BMW, and the gap will be different between RWD and AWD). People get mods and it might boost them up to 300 WHP which can be higher than 320 CHP. I haven't seen any posts on how much trust to put into the sport display. It's fun and I love it, but I don't know how accurate it is at reporting any kind of HP. 2) For my 435, BMW advertises somewhere around 335 CHP, as oppose to the 300 CHP they advertise earlier. I expect they will still beat that, but as it's a promise on an add-on rather than a car I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the margin much closer. 3) 4) iunno |

MPPK is worth the price if you have a PIL (plant integration level) earlier than Nov 2012.
The MPPK comes with a new DME which allows a good tuner many more options than the previous DME installed could. Since many of these 2012 cars are just coming off warranty....the really good HP numbers should start to show up.

Good question...I think MPPK vs JB4..no question JB4...but if you want more than that...then MPPK...with DME flash...or Dinan stage 2.now you have something special.
...then if your in California where we have the CARB police...the flash even makes more sense (undetectable by smog police) or DINAN for that matter since it's got a carb sticker. Last edited by jborchelt; 04-21-2016 at 02:10 AM.. |

Hi Guys just for the ones who are still looking for some information on MPPK...
little bit of back ground i own a brand new 335i f31 m sport manual car. As of today i just have covered 1200 miles. I drove the car for 800 miles as a stock and after doing my research i got the car fitted with the performance upgrade. well now as i have driven it for 400 miles now here are my thoughts ..... The car sounds a bit different it has a depth in exhaust sound . It feels smooth and power comes in a very refined way. the delivery is great but if you ask me has the performance changed my answer will be i am not sure. I have a manual car and it delivers well and lives up to the expectation ... if i ask my self that was stock car any worse than the one with the performance kit i would say no ... I definitely can tell that your exhaust sounds different and the way the power is delivered its different as well. Is it faster than the stock ...? on the papers it is .... do you feel the power? yes you do ... do you feel the difference ? yes you do ...is it better now....? This is questionable as i still cant say it is .... The car has changed a lot and the new ecu coding which is a major part of performance upgrade definitely changes the characteristics of the car. According to BMW car takes time to settle with the change and its gradual . The other point to consider is that the car is brand new and feels tight and sturdy ... so i cant feel much of a difference as of now. fuel economy : they say that the fuel economy will not change and will remain the same .... The stock car i mean before the upgrade was averaging 27-31 mpg on normal driving condition. after the MPPK the MPG has come down to 19-22 which is significant change . Please share the experience if some one has gone through this process... I will keep you guys updated .... Thanks Last edited by kiankur11; 04-28-2016 at 03:39 PM.. |

I have had the MPPK on my car since December, honestly only drove it stock in Europe when I did euro delivery and had it installed before I picked it up so I cant really tell if there is a huge difference. However to comment on kiankur11's notes on MPG, I now have 20K miles on my car and have averaged upper 20's the whole time while regularly achieving 30-32 on the Highway. I think the difference you are seeing might come from city driving where they have increased the aggressiveness of the throttle and also increased the amount of fuel being dumped into the engine. The power needs to come from somewhere. IF you drive conservatively your mpgs will not change, but driving spiritedly will use more than stock. Just my 2 cents.

I have 2013 F30 335i xdrive model, but production date is Sept 2012. When I was asking my dealer what MPPK costs are he stopped and said that he needs to check it, because what is on the website is from Nov 2012 up. So he even said that maybe... there was no MPPK for this timeframe. He is checking this. At the same time reading the post above, it looks like you are sure that MPPK for this year exists, and will consist new DME. Coudl you please help me identify PN for it so I can check pricing in different places... thanks for support! |

Dealer in the first shot provided number for N54 by accident with pricing 1800$, but later confirmed that right number is one provided by you Now I need to look for some additional cash for this small purchase, right PN was quoted 1300$ and few bunks less I can have it from online shops... If the installation of the computer is so easy, and this MPPK has new DME, does it mean that I could keep the old one? Why Im asking is that if this is the case, could I keep the old one, flash the new one in the near future on top of MPPK software (for example from Enzo etc.) and exchange them when its needed, especially for some service visits Would this approach work? Do you see any issues with it? Or I have overlooked something and the idea should go to trash... thanks! |

MPPK/MPE Install on 2014 335i
I installed an MPPK and MPE in May of this year on my 2014 335i M-Sport (late build 6/14 model) with about 12K miles on the odometer. I presently have just over 15K miles. When I first installed the MPPK and MPE I did not notice much difference other than the sound was slightly louder. Initially I was disappointed, however after each tank of gas I noticed the car started waking up. After about 1K miles on the upgrade the car has risen to new level!
The exhaust sounds as it should and in sport mode the burbles are audible without being obnoxious (at least to me). The performance has picked up where I felt the car lack as stock. The car pulls all the way to 7K RPM with increasing power where before the car seemed to level off in power without much gain from 5.5K to redline. Although the two systems claim 41 HP gains (35 HP for MPPK & 6 HP for MPE), it is a real feel where you want it, the mid range punch pulls much harder and keeps gaining to redline, and now the exhaust backs up the punch! Pros: Performs the way one would expect a BMW to. Exhaust is deep, very nice burble and crackle when in performance mode. Almost no burble and crackle in eco-pro mode. No drone when driving high speed for any distance. Exhaust draws attention. Mid range torque pulls hard for regular commuting. Engine continues to pull hard all the way to redline (real feel in increased performance breathing from 5,500 to 7,000 RPM). Un-noticeable change in MPG when driving comfort mode. Cons: Cost is rather steep for 41 HP ($3K+ or $75/HP). Louder exhaust does draw unwanted attention from traffic enforcement. Tendency to drive in Sport mode reducing MPG. Overall, it is worth the buy, especially if you have your vehicle under warranty. I would recommend that anyone purchasing new, incorporate into your purchase from day one.

It will always show back ordered..since its a custom part.....you will have to get the dealer to call the factory....turn around from Germany is less than 10 days from order.

Obviously you'll notice the +50NM in torque during WOT, however as soon as you reach 6th gear (which is has been limited to 400NM) you immediately think something is missing. Further up into 7th it pulls better again. This is something that I don't like because it just feels odd. Up to today I have no idea why BMW limits torque in 6th gear. Yeah I mean the transmission is 1:1 in 6th, so what!? In Sport mode you'll notice an improved sound inside the car, however I'm not sure whether this is caused by the slightly modified intake or something else. Maybe someone can comment on this? I haven't gone FBO yet but I'm tempted to start with a 300 cpi HJS DP and a Wagner intercooler next year. Juuuuust in case I'll need to add some extra HP with a custom tune or JB4 at some point |
