335i xdrive N55 coolant/cooling system hose(s) replacement?
Hi, Im planning on preventatively replacing my water pump and Tstat on my 2013 335i xdrive (89k miles) next month. Besides the water pump, Tstat and mickey mouse flange im also considering replacing some or all of the major hoses associated with the cooling system. However given my limited time (~1 week off of work due to the holidays) to do this i may choose to replace only the most essential hoses, at least at first. Does anyone have any advice on which are the most essential hoses to fail or need to be replaced?

You’ll want to get the overflow tank line (the skinny one running from reservoir to the top of the radiator) as those are fragile. If you are upgrading to an aluminum Mickey Mouse flange, make sure to get an OEM o ring- the ones with the kit have been known to fail and it’s not fun to repeat the repair. Most of my hoses on my 2012 still look and feel great, aside from the overflow one that I had break on me.
Nothing wrong with preventative maintenance, but replacing the pump and thermostat isn’t as common a preventative item here as on previous generations. Piece of mind isn’t a bad thing but if you are looking to save a bit or throw it at other preventative maintenance, that is an option. You done your chargepipe yet? |
