Would love to hear high medium low options. It seems like eibach 15s are the most popular spring choice?

Thanks!
I have eibach 15s on order to replace the h&r sports that my 2019 330i f31 came with. Hopefully having them put on next week. As most folks have said, the h&rs are too low and as a result harsh (plus I only have about 4" of clearance for the front splitter). I have EDC - not sure if that matters. FWIW my car appears lower than others that I've seen with the h&rs - not sure why.

I'll post pictures once I get the install done.

there are two different h&r's...sport and super sport, which is lower. hopefully yours is not the super sport because it will wear the edc damper much faster. the eibach pro-kit is better for OEM dampers because they're not as low and spring rates are a better match, instead of being underdamped/oversprung.

Mine are the sports - they are blue and have 28832 va on the front. Your point about eibach being a better match seems to be the consensus and why I'm switching to them. Fingers crossed

My F31 has the Eibach 14 lowering springs and 255 tires. The car looks great I think. You’re welcome to check it out. I am in SF.

That would be great. I’m not at PM permissions yet!

Did you do the install yourself or know a good shop? The ones I’ve asked are asking a lot.

No, I had my shop Bay Motor Works in SF do it. Where are you located?

How do I go about ensuring the proper bump stop clearance? I used Koni SA and Dinan springs (for F30), like wagonho and my wagon bottoms out on certain roads/potholes/bump on the road. I used the Dinan Ride Quality Kit but I can't imagine what it would be like without them....

2014 328iX Touring with new Bilstein B6 Damptronic and H&R sport issues

Hello to all,

I just recently refreshed my shocks/struts springs from OE EDC and springs to

Bilstein B6 Damptronics
FL -23-266483
FR -23-266490
R - 20-250744

and

H&R Sport springs - 28832-2

The rear end dropped significantly but the fronts have not.

It looks like the shop I used put external bump stops in place, and from what I've understood, with the B6 struts being an inverted design with internal bump stops, that the externals should not be used. I'm not sure if this is what's causing the mismatch in height but it's what I'm considering.

Has anyone else had this issue with this combination?

H&R sway bars, and some new end links are next but I'd like to see if I can get this sorted first.

Thoughts, comments, ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

G

B6 damptronic aren't inverted monotube architecture so using the OE type bump stop is correct.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

So is that a difference between the Damptronic and standard B6 struts?

Any other thoughts on the ride height? Or is that that just the way it is with that combination?

Thanks

shout out to pnw race for installing kw v2 comfort coilovers and bmw m performance big brake kit on my f31. i dropped the car off before i went on vacation and they were kind of enough to take photos of the process to share with me while i was out of town. so far the coilovers have been great, the ride is even better than before but i did ask them to set the dampers to be as comfortable as possible since the misses can get car sick fairly easily.

i just swapped my out my rear shocks from Koni SA to Bilstein B6 HD. the B6 is way firmer but responds more quickly than the Koni SA and matches the rear MP spring rate better. i didn't get the front B6 because the spring seat design causes the ride height to become higher.

interestingly, i currently have MP springs w/B6 shocks at the rear and stock 704 springs/struts up front. with plans to change the front struts to Koni SA while keeping the 704 front springs. although the B6 rears are a lot firmer, i feel the handling is much better just from the rear shock swap. it's so good that i almost don't feel the need to swap to the Koni SA struts up front.

i believe the heavy rear of the gran coupe is the reason the higher spring rate and damping seems to work better for it. since the F31 rear is even heavier it may work similarly for it as well. however, since what we desire from the suspension is very subjective, it's difficult to say. the B6 rides notably firmer and you "feel" more road imperfections, if that may bother you.
