Does anyone know what the situation is with the 'missing' middle bonnet buffer? The bit just above the BMW roundel in the pics.

There is a NewTis doc on replacing the slam panel and it mentions: "The replacement part omits the middle buffer". Just wondering if that translates as you need to figure out a way to refit it, or the factory just binned the feature off at some point? Or another thought, is it a sign of accident repair and the bodyshop didn't refit the buffer?
