Got the AKG bushings in the mail…. They are so hard! Love it… really is bowling ball hard.

Also turns out my rear bearings were fine and the noise was a small rock hidden wayyyy in the brake caliper at the back… so that’s good news!

Now need to find time to swap the bushings

My mannnn
AKG has always been one of my favorite companies for suspension and mounts, always top notch and great people to.

I'll be a few months behind you
I'll be doing the bushings you got, rear sway, and end links with lower arms, since they're stamped and weak, I've seen them collapse before so I'll start there, very curious to hear your thoughts on the bushings

Any updates on this? How are those with poly bushes getting on with them?

My 70K mile F30 was in for service yesterday and split front hydro bushes (quelle surprise!) and a split rear diff bush were flagged as needing doing at some point, but not urgent.

I'm disappointed to see the F80's rear subframe is solid mounted and it only has one diff bush, which is poly and a different shape to the F30, so no OE upgrades there, boooo!

For the diff, has anyone tried these? https://hardraceshop.com/products/ha...ries-e9x-non-m

I'm really not a fan of any NVH over stock, even if slight, so voidless rubber inserts might be a good option.

For the subframe, new OE ones, or poly? Is there a softer shore rating available? 95 is a tad harsh for my tastes. OE rubber is usually around 45 shore, but its more the voids that make them to squidgy. Shame hard race don't do anything here.

Still very pleased with the Whiteline rear subframe bushes - much less movement between the subframe and body, and no increased NVH (to my ears at least).

Thanks for that I'll give those a look. I'm slowly collecting parts for an 80k chassis refresh.

Lemforder drop links are still made in the EU, so scored 4 of those on a 50% off AutoDoc day. Ordered genuine upper and lower front control arms as I can't be faffed with VAC or Millways as it will never a see a track.

So will probably add the Whitelines and get the rear overhauled too.

Quite tempted by some Ground Control top mounts though. I had them on my old Golf GTI and they made a worthwhile difference, even on stock suspension.

The benefit of bushed or monoball control arms is steering precision and response. They make a massive difference.
