What's the OEM center bore size for BMW rims?
Hi folks
I tried searching in the Sticky section as well as searching but I was not able to find the answer. What's the center bore size for 2013 wheels or BMW wheels in general Thanks Max |

Well almost all, a few are 74.1 like the X5 E70, the X6 E71 (front wheels only) and the old 5 series E39.

If you purchase a replacement rim with a smaller diameter center bore it will have to be bored out by a machine shop. If you purchase a replacement rim with a larger diameter you must purchase hub-centric rings (plastic or metal) and install them inside the hub bore of the wheel. Hub-centric rings come in many sizes, but make sure to purchase the correct size for your wheel/car (i.e. if your hub bore is 72.56mm and you purchase wheels with a 74mm hub bore, you must install 74mm to 72.56mm hub-centric rings). If you do not install hub-centric rings, you will likely experience steering wheel shake/vibration at cruising speed due to the wheel not being perfectly centered. The safest method is to purchase wheels with the correct hub bore as they are a direct fit that won't need any machining or rings. Hope this helps!

I had to bump this old thread. Thanks Apex for confirming what I need to buy...Winter mode in full effect... Thank goodness I found this thread to confirm buying the right ring before mounting the wheels..

New to this forum, I have a 2019 430xi gran coupe and was looking to get info on the hub bore size for my car. I tried fitting 19 inch M wheels from a 2020 M330 and the hub was too small. I would appreciate some feedback.

Newer models (G chassis) have different bolt patterns and hub sizes. 5x112 and 66.5mm |

All other parameters being the same, a shorter sidewall will be more responsive but give a harsher ride. Also, according to this article, the rim width should be about 1/2" wider than the tread width (not the section width) to provide optimum handling.

Im runn8ng 19 amd they ride better than the factory 18. You cant hardly buy a 16 non truck tire anymore and 17s are getting rarer. If you upgrade brakes to 340mm brembo (highly recommended, 312mm are completely inadequate for 80+kph city streets on a 3800 lb car) , 18 is minimum. 19 lets you run 370mm brakes up front. As a result Id suggest at least 18 if changing.

For the 400mm front rotors, or SLG adapters for 380mm rotors, you'll need 19" wheels.
