I’m still thinking that maybe 6CP in my car change something (but probably it only activates WiFi). My old unit came out with WiFi but without CarPlay. Someone activated CarPlay for me, after that I changed Display to 8.8.
My phone was added to CarPlay and worked until end of November, than I changed phone.
Tomorow maybe I’ll try to revert all changes. I still thinking it is a memory problem (in two units), or just unappropriate coding…
The last test will be to find NBT EVO and check…

Theses problems also happened when customer had changed his phone

Because he want to connect new one 😅
I wrote to Alpine (Producer). Maybe there is a solution to f.e. connect some pins on mainboard to revert changes. Today I opened one - nothing broken inside.
I’ll be waiting for the response from Alpine… The good one is I can still connect to CarPlay on my original Unit while driving (better than nothing). On new one I cannot activate CarPlay…
In January I’ll try to connect NBT EVO - it’s probably the best solution.
But if the connecting to new phone broken something…
I read about problems when the phone has the same name like the old one.
Also about some “” in phone names that could be problem with pairing.
Strange is that after IPhone 16 release people have problem with connecting.

I just replaced the headunit and the issue still persists. I have a feeling it might be a battery issue. My battery is 7 years old and hasn't been changed since factory. So I'm gonna exchange that regardless. I'll keep you updated.

The current P/N for my original HU: 8798036
Replacement P/N: 8705960

Just out of curiosity, has anyone got any fault codes in the central gateway module or have tried to update it?

I think I've saw something like "801c20 central fault memory full " on FEM or somewhere else, but not sure it is related, what about you ?
I also have E1C448 MOST: Current configuration incomplete

I have the same fault code on the FEM. It reappears when I go back to the car and the fault memory is not full for me. I think I might reflash FEM_GW and FEM_BODY as I assume it might be responsible for putting the headunit into sleep mode. . mestarh do you have the same fault code.

I don’t car the car with me so I can’t test .

And do You know which fuse number to change? I’m pretty sure that I’ve checked all the fuses in rear fuse box (eyes only).
Edit: It looks that 121 could be a problem - it has 20A. I’ll change it later.

How were you about to come to this conclusion did you measure the continuity or voltage ? Also let me know how this goes, will try later on too.

On this post someone said that changed 20A fuse. The only one 20A fuse in schema in my car(F36) which has connection with HU is 121.
Maybe later I’ll check resistance of this fuse.
EDIT: I checked it, the fuse is good. I’ve replaced it with another 20A, but I'm thinking that is not the problem...

After few weeks of searching, changing HU -
I found a solution -> just change it to NBT Evo. Now everything works, and car don’t need to go to sleep when we’re removing phone etc. In new
HU I just remove old devices, unpin QuadLock, connect - no problem with returning phones. EntryNav2 was problem. Still waiting for info from Alpine - maybe there is some solution to clear internal memory.

Thanks for your feedback. Replacing the headunit is for me the last solution. And EVO is not cheap.
Entrynav2 has also a lot of 6,5 screens in general (F20 series) so if replace with EVO need also to replace screen to 8.8

How were you able to connect to the telematics unit? From my knowledge the connection is different on EVO. Would you not lose bmw connectedservices as well as GPS?

I think I might have spotted the issue. Pin 15 on my quadlock is bent and it makes sense because I had to force it out since it was hard to take out to install the emtronika camera. Pin 15 is 12v power so im guessing that it's not cutting power out correctly. I have never taken off the quadlock. Can anyone please guide me on how to take of the plastic quadlock so I can replace it?

Hi You need to connect ATM to OABR (61139299610) (buy in BMW - it's cheap - mine like 1.5$) (also the Ethernet if You'd like to flash unit by OBD port) If not just make of find RJ45 to ethernet.
ATM just repin from current ENTRYNAV2 -> white to PIN 2, green to PIN 4, and black/shield to PIN 8 - Connected Services still works (need to reset settings after proper coding)
Ethernet:
NBT Quadlock -> OABR
31 -> 17
32 -> 19
37 -> 18
38 -> 20

Parts
OABR (61139299610)
Pins - Nano MQS - probably in most electronic shops.

How did you manage to pop the mqs pins out ?
