Personally, I think 235/40 and 265/35 is the best staggered setup for xDrive but I couldn't find a good budget summer in those sizes. Namely the Hankooks or Firestones

Have you look at the new Hankook ventus s1 evo3. My friend just got them on his Audi. I can't find any reviews yet. Hankook global website said it just came out this year 2019. I'm gonna try it out when my tires wear out.

About a month ago I installed the Bilstein B6 Damptronic's on the car, which raised the front end about half an inch. Here's a recent post of that nightmare...

I purchased a set of Eibach springs that will hopefully solve that issue.... maybe... Just installing the front springs along with Millway Camber plates early Saturday morning since the high for the day will be 100. Hopefully it will drop the front back down half an inch.

225 and 275? That thing must understeer like crazy no?

I run 245/35/19 F (up front 225/40/19 stock) and 255/35/19 R on OEM 442s and that got rid of some understeer but it still does so at the limit.

245/40/19 on 8.5" rim fits perfectly fine and it's a big improvement.

Yeah, tread width isn't like 225/235/245 - it's the actual measurement across that is published by tire rack. Manufacturers have non-standard measurements and tire sizes vary; so Michelin might make a 225/40-18 that is 8.0" wide, and Bridgestone one that is 7.2" wide in the same size.

So you want a tire that is 0.5" narrower than your wheel size.

E.g. 10.1 tire on a 10.5" wheel is perfect fitment.

i hear ya. while i've seen articles like this before and completely understand it, imo most here are just care about appearance and don't care how diameters, widths, offsets, track width, tire widths, aspect ratio and weight affects the suspension and performance.

excluding drag or roll racing(going straight), only a small percentage here do or know how to drive at the limits of their cars performance(track or the twisties)

suggesting appropriate wheel and tire specs is already difficult without this variable. it'll be a hard sell for most but this info is helpful regardless.

You are again misunderstanding what he's saying.

While running a square set up is fine if you want a little extra protection from curb, the ideal fitment is ~0.5in narrow than the wheel width.

The article quite literally states above that line you're referring to:

"Here is a 285/35-20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport which has a 10.1″ tread width (also available in a 10.5″ tread width) mounted on a 20×10.5 wheel. This is a perfect tire-to-wheel sizing with a mild stretch, preloading the side wall just enough to improve steering response and performance."

Why not run down to the Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, or BMW shop tomorrow and look at their performance cars? Every single one of them will have slightly stretch tires over their wheels.
