I'm in Maryland and I'm able to pass emission test without switching back to stock DP. We do have convenience of doing it ourselves and allow to have 1 monitor not ready.
I haven't had any issues with CEL with my Wagner high flow dp. As long as I flash back to stock I was able to pass every single time. Last edited by zen0s; 12-05-2019 at 10:12 PM.. |

Unfortunately I had to remove my catless DP and reinstall my OEM DP to pass. Then I removed my OEM DP and reinstalled my catless DP because I'm a glutton for punishment.

did you do the labor yourself? i just got my car inspected so i have a year.... next year i will try to find a "hookup" but i hear those are almost as much as a catless dp =( which would cost the same amount of labor if someone removed and added it back for me....

Follow-up
Well I guess later is better than never!
Ive got my inspection this month and have been able to get mt '15 335i into an emissions ready state while running Stage 2 w/o cat using an angled spacer. Its easily accessible from the top side of the engine bay and takes about 5 minutes to install. *For offroad use only From my testing you'll need to keep out of Sport+ mode because it will throw a code during spirited driving. Prior to the angled spacer I would not get a ready state from the Cat check and an efficiency code. As you can see in the attached images Cat check passed. |

I used a spacer from bigdaddiesgarage.com/
Dropped her off for inspection today and passed. I flashed to the 0+ M2 map and completed a drive cycle. |

Yeah, Zero issues installing, just remove your engine cover and reach down the passenger side of the engine.
In the right foreground you can see the upstream O2. Both are pretty easy to see and access from the top of the bay. |

Ive read through this forum and I am unable to figure out if anyone ever found a solution to this. If you run a catless/catted high flow dp do you just fail emissions? Nobody has found any workarounds?

If you want to "legitly" pass emissions, get a good catted DP like fabspeed, AA, or CG precision. Catted versions of Wagner, ER, VRSF, etc, will not pass emissions. Having said that other people claimed to pass emissions with a catless downpipe (meaning that their catalyst monitor was in ready state) by using an angled O2 spacer on the secondary O2. I forget which thread it was in. To my knowledge none of the "CEL fix" or other methods (like the VRSF one) ever worked to pass emissions. Finally, note that some states allow one monitor to not be ready, in which case if everything else is good, you can pass emissions even if your catalyst monitor is not ready to due catless or catted DP that is "not good enough". |

Going to necro this tread just to give a few updates. As many of us know, not only was there a few things mentioned on the first page to try out, but BM3 also released a DTC Code Deactivation section as well. Unfortunately, here are my results:
Stock Map - Setting Decat Charge Min to 199, Max to 0 All available monitors eventually went green But i saw a pending P0420 code using OBDLink Stock Map - Setting Decat Charge min to 0, Max to 199 All available monitors eventually went green But i saw a pending P0420 code using OBDLink Stock Map - Set DTC Code Deactivation for 180001 and p0420 All available monitors eventually went green But i saw a pending P0420 code using OBDLink Not sure what else to try

Does your state allow one monitor not ready or to all have to be ready?

CT also allows only one. Problem with stage 2 is that it throws 2 things into not ready for me. I think it was the catalyst and o2 sensor
