That much smoke is common for the pcv valve. Common issue. Can be fixed at home buying replacement kits for 30 quid or so. Bmw sell repair kits too

It could be something to do with the MPPSK map.
If the software has gone a bit 'funky', or there is a glitch in the file, the map could be altering the timing to some of the injectors wrongly and randomly .

If the fault can't be pinned down to one specific thing (which seems the case so far), I think I would ask a BMW dealer if they can remove the MPower map back to factory settings and go from there.

That could be an idea. It’s just starange it’s only happens pretty much straight after I full the tank with petrol

Yeah that's smoke alright!

If not the PCV valve as suggested, I'd be looking at the turbo next.

I would also agree with PCV - my old 3.0i E85 Z4 occasionally started with a white plume just like that, caused by the PCV being faulty.
