340i Suspension upgrade
So the wife was driving my car and "Hit something" on the road and messed up my passenger front strut, so I did some looking around at options.
I wasn't a fan of the F30 m performance electronic suspension, it always felt floaty when driving on the highway or too much body roll on corners. I looked in to BC Racing suspension, but the reviews weren't the greatest lately for build quality and performance, so I gave Scale suspension a look, they custom make your suspension and build to order, plus they're Canadian, so no paying the duty mafia plus paying in USD. They have three different levels of suspension systems, like oem, low and extreme low with the option to custom order spring tension rates. I went with the low version cause I wanted to further reduce body roll and prevent my car from bottoming out on the shitty roads in my city, since I dropped it 1.5 inches. The ride quality is absolutely amazing, no squeaks or rubbing noises at all! Their suspension comes with manual dampening adjustments on the struts, so you can adjust them for winter/summer driving and of course the track lol. My car came with the Edc (electronic dampening control) M performance suspension and refused to pay an extra $450 for the delete kit, when I could make my own delete kit.... And it bloody well worked! All my driving modes work, plus the traction control. So no need to pay a rediculous amount for a edc delete kit |

These actually look pretty good, too bad they don't show up in web searches for coilovers. I would definitively have considered them over KW. I like how the height adjustment is independent of the spring pre-load. Front camber plates included too.

I should note you plan to do some occasional tracking, from experience, don't buy anything where you can't adjust the rebound remotely on the rear shocks (on KW there is a remote cable, on Bilstein the setting is on the bottom of the shock). When I decided to dive into suspension mods, I was 'shock'ed at how much the rear shocks affect the ride comfort. With some brands (like Koni, BC), you have to remove the rear shock to set the rebound. This becomes such a pain you effectively set-it-and-forget-it, removing the advantage of user setting flexibility. I used to do 3 weekends a year for track which is only 6 settings, then switched to 7 days a year . . . over 7 months . . . or 14 adjustments. KW please shred my credit card now. If you're end goal is street only, these might be worth a try but I suggest Swift springs. Now getting the rate right, well, keyboard warrior, getting Googling.

Can you elaborate on the DIY EDC delete module you made? I’d like to do away with mine but as you mentioned the $ for the kit is crazy. |
