wheels specs for wide tires

So I was looking into getting wheels for my 340i and was set on getting a pretty big tire in the rear as I am rwd, and I wanted to see if anyone has done a 295/40/18 in the rear. I know it is possible to do a 305/45/17 that I have seen on a 17x10 et45 wheel but I am wondering if it is possible or if anyone has done a 285 or 295/40/18 and what the wheel specs on that would look like. anything helps. I am currently running KW v3s, so I can adjust the height if needed.

This is a 285/30/20 Falken FK510 on OEM 666m wheels on Dinan springs. Factory alignment specs. With this tire, I do not rub.

Depending on the tire, I'd probably be able to fit a 295.

My bad, you mentioned 18. Hope this gives you an idea on the width?

OEM tire diameter is 26". +or- a few tenths is not unreasonable.

295/40/18 is 27.3". it too tall and will rub the fenderlip under compression. it is also making your gearing at the pavement taller.

295/35/18(26.1") is the appropriate F3X rear size you want at offset ET45 to provide the most clearance from rear fenderlip and while still clearing the shock.

if you are doing this for drag traction, then i suggest 275/40/18 with 200TW as compound is more important than width. if you don't already have one, you should also be considering an LSD. 2x wide tires making traction is better than one super wide tire making traction.
