Cheaper alternative to PS4s

I've been running several sets of PS4s rears since I bought the car in 2020 and now it's time to change all 4. Will be around 1k.
What is a good, cheaper alternative?

Kumho Ecsta PS71 are good tyres and much cheaper than the big boys.

If you have a Kumho 'dealer' nearby they should give excellent prices. I had a set of four 19" fitted to my 440 (275 rears, 235 fronts) for under £500.

Eagle F1 AS6.

I've just swapped the front tyres to these, the previous AS5 fronts lasted 4 years and 62k miles.

Got the fronts done for approx £330 fitted for the pair, the rears would be slightly cheaper.

Goodyear Assym 6s, as above, Falken FK510s or 520s and Vredestein Ultrac Vorti's will always get my vote

The Vredesteins are superb tyres; as are the Goodyears

See what prices Camskill have

PS4s as in plural of PS4, or PS4 'S'?

There isn't a cheaper alternative to the latter. Pay less, get less.

PS4s - singular.
Thanks for the suggestions so far

Point is, I can do with less. I don't track the car or blast around streets of London.
Tyres don't last long as roads apparently are littered with nails. 3 out of 4 tyres currently have nails in them - again. Right rear has a deep slash that the garage said looks intentional.
Tyres has been the single biggest maintenance cost on this car.

I get what you're saying...

For me personally; the Assym 6s for me, are better tyres than PS4s I've had previously

Prefer how they ride; they're quieter and very grippy (wet and dry)

Found that with the Vred's as well

But I don't do big milage, so cannot comment on wear etc

From reading reviews, I'm very keen on the Goodyear Assym 6s, but they don't do them in 255/30 20R - 30 does not exist in this tyre model for some reason
4x Falken will be £863 fitted - reasonable?

conti sport contact 7s are reviewing better than the ps4s right now but as far as i know they have less tread when new, so likely won't last as long as a set of ps4s.

what tyre sizes are you going for that the ps4s is running you a grand? off the top of my head the standard f3x 19" sizes are 235/40/19 and 255/35/19 and it was about ~700ish for a set of 4 from camskill.

Conti7s aren't a downgrade though

Tbh, anything in the F1, PS4/5 range is plenty good enough for the F3x platform. PS4 has been bloody brilliant in the cold weather, even down to -2.

Do you think Falken is a better choice than Kumho?

Likewise with the AS6. Had to drive in the snow on Saturday in Durham. Thought I might have trouble as on summers. However the combination of xdrive, DTC mode and probably new front tyres ensured I didn't get stuck. I did slide around a little in a particularly snowy car park, and of course winter tyres would have managed better, but I was impressed by the performance of the AS6 in the snowy/wet weather.

I'd go Falkens over Kumhos; I'd go Uniroyal Rainsport over Kumho's to be honest (not that they do them in your sizes)

I ran Falken's on my F01 730D of all things in 19s and they were superb; coped with some rough weather in the Highlands with zero issues and they took the road from Dunkeld to Braemar superbly (I wasn't going slow)

My pal runs them on his 340i saloon as well and really rates them (has 888s for his track days)

It's impressive how cold some summer tyres can go these days

Back in my E30/E34 days with tyre technology just as old, dear god

Should have saved money and gone for AS6 as the PS4s all round for the standard commute and some spirited driving is overkill.

I presume the AS6 would be little more quieter and more comfortable.

I have settled on the Falken tyre - from what I read, it's ok for performance vehicles if you don't track. £654 for 4x tyres delivered seems ok. Fitting should be less than £100

thanks a lot for the advice chaps!!!!

That's good going. About what I paid for my Goodyear Assym 6s on our F31 and they're only 18s!

Very similar range IMO. Pays your money, take your choice.

I have had Falkens and Kumhos in the past. Can't say I noticed any difference.

There is an awful lot of bullshit talked about tyres. For everyday driving, even with 350bhp and 500nm at the rear wheels, most tyres will be more than capable IME.
If you are 'pushing the limits' of any high performance tyre on the road, then you will either soon be banned from driving or in a hedge, or worse.

My brand new Audi A4 has Hankooks on from the factory. I think VW know a bit about tyres. Hankooks would be sniffed at on any car forum.

I had hankooks before I got the goodyears. Had to change all 4 as ran over a brick and blebbed 2 tyres. Nothing wrong with them.
