Swapped sockets on DME---did I kill it?
Whelp, I did it, I tried some DIY on this thing. 2014 328i Xdrive, n26, 113000 mi. So, today I underwent the OFHG and a few other things while I was in there, including the water pump, thermo, Belt and tensioner, hoses to and from the radiator, the plastic "mickey mouse" fitting. In reassembling everything after a very long night of cleaning as I went, I plugged in the 2 left most sockets crisscrossed. After trying to run the bleed procedure, I *tried to start the car- crank, no start. Then after taking a look at the swapped DME sockets, I swapped them back and was happy that the bleed proceedure started and ran in full. Next step, starting the car.
It cranked a second or two and then fired up. cold/loud at first, but as the fresh oil and coolant circulated, it quieted down. After getting everything off jackstands, I left the garage and had a slew of warnings- *Transmission too hot, drive slowly* *stability control warning* *pre brake warning inactive * lane departure, pedestrian collision warning, CEL on dash, DSC off light on dash, and on a small drive, car was at half power and only stayed in 1st gear. FOXWELL scanner found 7 or so codes in DME (and a bunch for the cameras, but will address that another time) and a few others - Pardon my lack of current info, I am back home with a friends borrowed truck and the scanner is with the car, I'll download more tomorrow with screenshots. Its my daily, I'm freaking out at 4am and just hoping someone out there might have a clue- did I fry my DME by switching the sockets?? TIA folks- any help is immensely appreciated. |
