New DPF coupling required - how is it fitted?

MOT came through fully clear; but they mentioned that there's a slight rattle on cold start when I went to collect it and it's the coupling on the DPF (the rattle stops once warm etc)

It's this part: 18308589078

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264482683646

Is it welded in; or is it fitted with clamps does anyone know? What would be the best way to get it fitted?

Wondering if we just leave it for now and let it develop, if that makes sense?

That needs to be welded in. I wouldn't expect that coupling to cause a rattle though.

There's a flexible bellows inside that can split. This would certainly cause a leak and sound like a blowing exhaust.

Depends which bit is rattling but sometimes putting a clamp around the mesh can stop the rattle.

Cheers folks..

Think I'll let it develop for now and get it on the ramps in the New Year and see what it's doing

My wifes 116d has started blowing from this DPF flexi joint, something to sort out in 2025.

I saw that on RealOEM and thought surely it can't be clamped on for easy replacement, and I was right As above, you could try putting a couple of jubilee clamps around it to crimp in the problem areas a bit, but if the noise goes when hot, probably leave it until it gets unbearable
