Is it me or does it not tell you which tire is low? I have the tech/nav package and when the light comes on it just lights up all 4 wheels. I read about the coding to tell you what the actual pressure is, but shouldnt it tell you which tire is low??

I need help. I bought a 2014 335i xdrive that I have had for a week. I bought a set of gently used bmw 397 sport line wheels with tires and tpms. I tried to reset the tpms system within idrive however it says tpms system malfunction. It got to 49% the first time then crapped out. I think the wheels came off of a 2012 f30. Would the tpms sensors be different?

I'm sort of in the same situation. I've got my working sensors in my 17" wheels, but after getting my 20", I have been running the car without sensors.
Depending on what wheels you're planning to swap, and the weather in ny, if you do not plan to get new sensors just put the old ones in the wheel set you will be driving in the majority of the time. I'd imagine that you have one set of more winter tires and one set of summers. Thats 3 months on winter and 9 months on summer? (correct me if weather in ny is not like this). Put the sensors in summers and call it a day. |

I understand there is a world wide supply issue and BMW are struggling to fulfil orders at the moment, therefore it may be difficult to get the Continental ones out with the dealer network at the moment / for some time until supply issues are addressed.
I bit the bullet and got mine from a dealer. |

well... the more that i think abt it... i can probably live with it for a few months. when i slap my stock wheels back on in the winter... i can readdress the issue next spring. that should hopefully allow time for the shortage to correct itself thanks again for the information.. much appreciated! |

Confirmed with the dealer and discount tire - I need the new TPMS units. Current are showing 20psi when they are properly inflated. The most interesting part...
Dealer quote$550 Discount Tire quote$500 $50 well worth it to have the dealer handle it! |

what to use?
I have a 2013 328i xdrive. Apparently there are two sensors that were used with this F30 chassis. I purchased some new wheels to use for winter tires but they need to outfitted with TPMs. Can I use any brand of TPMs as a set that are compatible with the 433Mhz transmission signal or do the TPMs and sensor need to match by manufacturer?
I tried to find out what part no was appropriate for my car through the dealer, but they would not give out the part no. The last 6 digits of my VIN are 535591, which apparently is enough to identity the appropriate TPM. Would someone clarify for me what I need to use with the new wheels to have the TPMS continue to function when the new wheels are mounted? Thanks |
