Nothing to do with Brexit, of course
Dyson chooses Singapore for new electric car plant
And conveniently, the EU has just signed a trade agreement with Singapore... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45950377

Indeed he is ... and decides to build his cars outside the UK. Clearly has a lot of faith in the UK post Brexit

Selecting a non-UK country to produce the Dyson car is consistent with its established strategy. It does employ ~5,000 people in the UK, primarily in typical HQ functions.

In the uk we’re good at R&D, let it be manufactured anywhere in the world to make it competitive. We need more R&D linked to commercialisation, for and in, a global market. It’s to expensive to manufacture, unless it’s small scale niche products, in the UK whether you’re a Brexiter or Remainer.
Although Brexit has/is killing R&D spend and easy access to eu talent. Will be interesting to see how Dyson get on now they’ve moved on the job lot of industry cast offs they did start with.

I am annoyed that Leave won the referendum. In my view it was the wrong decision based on some completely false assumptions about how easy it would be to negotiate a great deal, but as you say, that’s life. However, while some form of Leave will probably happen, it is by no means a certainty. I can’t see ‘no deal’ getting voted through parliament which leaves some kind of fudged deal or the necessity to put it back to the people. We’ll see how this plays out. |
