2013 BMW 3 Series 328i
Hi everybody, I'm trying to get into my first BMW and I wanted to gather opinions as to whether or not this was a good deal and/or should I pick this up. So here's the story: I work at a Jeep dealership in Chardon, OH and we recently took this car in on trade. No one here, myself included, really knows BMWs and I wanted to ask the opinions of those who do know. Is this a good buy? 2013 BMW 3 Series 328i with 82,XXX miles. $15,900 https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistor...3A5G55DNP23969 Pictures: https://www.junctionautochryslerdodg...f2387150e7.htm Attached is the window sticker. Thanks for any help! |

Appears to be very well optioned... although Id be a bit nervous of the mileage combined with the fact that this vehicle undoubtedly has the old timing chain and guides that are more prone to failure.
First thing I would do is: Open the oil fill cap and check the chain for play/slop. I would check it both cold and hot. Second thing I would do is: Scan the vehicle for error codes. Thirdly: Have a tech in the shop put the car in the air and remove all belly pans. Inspect for leaks and damage. |

thanks for the response. I agree, mileage is one of my main concerns. We'll see. . . It's really well optioned! It drives great, too. Top 3 favorite cars I've ever driven.
Here's another thought of mine: Do I shell out 15k for this car or continue to save for what I'd really like to get (F80 M3)? I know this is up to me; however, it's always helpful to have an objective third party's opinion. |

For reference, I purchased a 2012 328i RWD for $14,250 with 73,000 miles on the dash. The car had nice options such as lighting, premium, technology, comfort. This was back in September so now I'm approaching one year at 89,000 miles and it's just been rear brakes, oil changes every 5K and that's it! OP see if you can get your starter bmw in 13-14 model year. Make sure it has a backup camera, (wish mine did)! Lighting package is a must and RWD. If you are worried about winter just get winter tires. RWD is lighter and had less components that would require repair. |

I’m selling my 328i with 6MT Msport with less than 50k miles for less, around 15k. Lightly optioned tho and body isn’t perfect. Price of what you are looking at seems high for the miles based on the feedback on my ad I’ve gotten!

Sport Transmission (SAT) is only a programming/coding difference. Exact same transmission.
Easily solved with BimmerCode and an a Vgate iCar adapter. $50 fix. Non issue. |

Pretty sure Sport transmission (SAT) shifts much faster, adds Sport+ and the cooler gear shifter, and adds paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
I've driven both transmissions and there's definitely a difference in shift quickness. My 340i M-Sport loaner from Hendrick BMW had the Sport transmission and it was excellent. I actually prefer running thru the gears with the +/- shifter as opposed to using the paddles. Likely cause I'm used to a 6MT. |

The transmission hardware is identical though. Sport+ / Launch Control / SAT can all be coded using BimmerCode. Since coding, I agree - shifts are quicker and crisper than before. Search on here if still skeptical, theres a lot of people who have done this. |
