Updateeee :
Hi mbfanos First and foremost, thanks so much for your recent purchase of a Ghost Underseat Subwoofer Upgrade Pair. We know you're incredibly excited to get these, so we wanted to give you the latest updates so you know exactly when to expect your purchase to arrive! We are roughly on track for our original estimated ship date, which was the end of November / early December. We received notification yesterday that these have arrived in Chicago, and are currently on their way to our Atlanta, GA warehouse. They should be shipping later that same week -- we can't give an exact date simply because shipping volumes / customs / etc. are crazy right now, so it's a little unpredictable, but the best estimate we have is that your order should ship around December 11th with plenty of time for your purchase to arrive before the holidays. Thanks so much for your patience so far, and we look forward to getting these subs to you -- you're going to love them! Happy Holidays! Best, Jeremy Whittle / BAVSOUND Amazing BMW audio gear -- made simple. |

So nobody actually has these yet? I have the BSW S1 on my base stereo system and would love a review of these in an identical set-up to mine.
I'm in two minds to buy a Bimmertech amp or if I should buy these subs but while I've heard the review for the amp, I would like to hear more about the subs before I shell out almost US$500 on them. I'm sure they'll be great but my concern is if my stock base stereo HU is powerful enough to drive them. I currently have my bass levels pushed up quite a lot to add more depth to my sound which is fine, but my hope is I can reduce this slightly with the BSW under seat subs and remove some distortion I get on the mid-range speakers when I turn them right up. However I digress. I'm looking forward to a solid review from somebody with a base stereo system. |

Updates on the order & install guide from bavsound
--- Hi Jeff, First and foremost, thanks so much for your recent purchase of a Ghost Underseat Subwoofer Upgrade Pair. We know you're incredibly excited to get these (we're still on track for shipping this week), so let's go over some very important guidelines as it relates to installing and tuning your system. Let's get started, shall we? First of all, here's how we install the woofers (a 2015 4 Series convertible is shown, but every BMW is done in the same manner - remove a few bolts, lean the seat back, remove the grille, unbolt the woofer housing, and swap the woofer): Now, the following installation tips must be adhered to in order to ensure that the woofers perform as designed and that you don't have any issues: When installing your new Bavsound woofers into the BMW enclosures, simply snug down each of the four (4) screws that secure the woofer to the enclosure. DO NOT TIGHTEN DOWN all the way - just get them snug. Once snug, work your way from opposite side to the other methodically tightening the screws until they're securely fastened. Be conscientious when lowering the woofer/enclosure down into the floor - do not hold the woofer by the cone (with your thumbs on the cone) or the magnet - only hold the enclosure. Before reinstalling the seats, plug the woofer and confirm operation - there's no need to audition here, we're just making sure we've got output. Note that some BMW models have quite a bit of extra carpet underneath the grille - if you notice your carpet directly touching the surround of the woofer we suggest carefully trimming the carpet away to prevent any contact - you can use scissors or a straight razor blade. Take caution to not overtrim - place the grille on top of the enclosure (without securing it) to get an idea of the coverage provided by the grille. Speaking of the grille, if this isn't securely fastened back down you will have rattling issues. Take special care to ensure that the grille is fastened all the way down before bolting seat back down. Once fastened, again play some tunes to make sure the grille isn't rattling. Let's look at some tuning guidelines - To optimize the performance of the woofers to have the biggest impact on your listening experience, we designed them so that they can really rock out at all volume levels - this means that they can distort in certain situations, and you need to be aware of some basic settings to prevent this. ALL Audio System Types - Bass and treble must be set to flat. Turn the speed volume setting on your radio (or iDrive menu) to the minimum setting. This ensures a clean, balanced signal is sent to the amplifier, and ultimately your woofers. If using external audio devices, turn all internal EQ functions off - make sure the aux volume (if your BMW is equipped) is turned to the middle. Again, a clean signal is a must. If you have a HiFi system, you may adjust the bass up or down a couple of notches based on the overall system volume - keep an ear out for distortion and adjust the bass accordingly. If you have the Logic 7 or Harman Kardon systems, turn the Logic 7 processing off - set the EQ to flat (sometimes a notch or two down on the 80hz setting). Trust us - the "processing" it offers only detracts from an optimal soundstage. We've optimized the woofers to perform flawlessly in the factory enclosures, and by every audible metric they absolutely BLOW away the factory woofers - tighter, punchier, mid-bass, and a colossal improvement in low-end extension. If after installation you want even more bass response, let us know and we'll go over some options. Further, you'll want to allow a solid 10-12 hours of break-in listening time for the woofers. The surrounds need to warm up, as do the spiders and adhesives used to secure everything together. Again, if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to drop us a line - we're always here to help. Happy Holidays! All the Best, BAVSOUND Amazing BMW audio gear -- made simple.

+1 Damn....
Surprised they shipped your orders before the US or customers who ordered it earlier. I wonder how Bavsound determines who gets it first. Bavsound must really like you to get it so soon

Was told mine would be shipping by 12/11, still haven't received any shipping info by Monday the 14th.
Talked to Bavsound and was told it should be shipping within the next week... If there is anything I hate, it's the ol' runaround. Probably just got put to the back of the line again for calling In a desperate attempt to keep my sanity, I have been upgrading my home theater system. At least I have some other toys to play with in the meantime... |
