Down pipes install- How long?

Sorry for the noob question. Wondering the time it takes to do Downpipes. I'm looking at the VRSF Cattless and am going to have a local mechanic do the work.

It took me about 3.5hours with ramps laying on my back. Good times. 2 hours trying to get the lower v band clamp off. When I do it again, about 2 hours.

The front drive axle and front diff are in the way. Makes suspension work and turbo work much more difficult. Also charge pipe routing is tighter as is everything else in the engine compartment basically. xDrive downpipe job isn't hard with 2 people, just use a long extension and universal to tighten and loosen the upper V-clamp from the top. Make sure to replace your lower clamp because it's a crush seal gasket and can only really be used once.

Idk I bought the ER sport cat and it did NOT come with one. I picked it up on getbmwparts.

OP - just to clarify, there's only 1 downpipe on an N55 engine. Easier than the N54 that had 2, the rear one being relatively difficult to remove/replace. Shouldn't take more than an hour of labor at a shop that knows what they're doing.

Just be sure you won't run into any trouble with emissions testing for your yearly State inspection. Some states actually "sniff" the exhaust with a sensor where others just look for a "ready" state from the OBDII readout. You'll also get a CEL and the exhaust will have a very distinct smell.

Keep in mind these numbers below are for the non-LCI models, only use these if you have a car built before 07/13 and a PWG.
If you have an LCI car with an EWG you have different part numbers.

Lower Clamp and Crush Gasket: 18307620349
Upper V-Band Clamp: 11657620508
Upper Gasket: 18307553601

Stop it. You get to lie down on the job instead of standing.

He even ate supper while he did it.

I went to Enzo, in Long Island - it was about a 80 minute drive from Bedminster, but well worth it.
