Hi,
It happened to me today as well when: I was programing quick buttons as shortcuts and I wanted to save power and torque meter as a shortcut button. I was in ignition 2 stage but car was not running. Could this be the case to crash the system, because idrive was not able to get information because it was not running? Btw: iphone 7 plus was connected over BT and playing Spotify app. I just bought 2014 320d from Germany. I hope it was one time event so I wont have to change NBT. |

I realize I never posted a follow-up to my 2013 post...
Since the second time my entire head unit was replaced, I haven't had any more issues. Its sad to see that this is still a very active issue/problem but I suspect like someone else mentioned, when the system crashes for a multitude of reasons (hardware, software, etc.) the "No Signal" message is displayed. Being out of warranty, I only hope this issue does not come back around for my car.

It's most likely a hardware issue, specifically a cable. You'll probably see the same message on your TV if you disconnect the input cable.

Just had this happen for the first time on my 2014 328i. I'm patiently waiting to see if it happens again. Less than 1000 miles left in warranty...

Have a 2015 F34. Almost 3 years old and 70.000km. I just had the "No Signal" message for the first time.
All standard, no comfort access, no iPhone, EU spec, no custom mods. What I read I have the impression that this message is part of a reboot sequence. A generic error when the computer crashes, fails or reboots. The BMW equivilant of your TV saying "No HDMI signal" |

It's either 1) the cable between HU and CID or 2) the HeadUnit itself. It can be intermittent (and so a bump returns it working) or totally out. |

AGAIN - the CID works just fine. "No Signal" at startup is simply a sign that you have no telematics connection to BMW servers. If it were a CID fault, no other function would work or it would work intermittently.
There a million and one error codes, and all not for the same cause/reason. |

If your explanation were correct, every 2011/2012/2013 CIC F30 in the USA would show up as "NO SIGNAL" as the 2G COMBOX quit working as of 12/31/2016 and 3G will quit working in all pre-2016 cars in the next few months. NONE of those have or will have a signal to the BMW Servers. And there will not be a "NO SIGNAL" warning. I have a 2013 F30 with CIC and 2G COMBOX which hasn't had a connection to BMW Servers since 2016 and I have NEVER had a No Signal on the CID except for when I pull the connector to the HU. Anyone with a 2011-2013 F3x can tell you that you are incorrect as their CID does not have a constant NO SIGNAL for the last 3 years. You think Encanto is incorrect. You think I am incorrect. Next you'll tell BMW that they are incorrect: Last edited by IK6SPEED; 12-25-2019 at 05:29 PM.. |
