2 suppliers gone bust
Hi all, wondering if anyone can help.
I Sort the gas and electric for my dads house and grandads house. They were with Iglooenergy. I switched them about a month ago, before all this gas and suppliers going bust issue. I switched them to Avro... Whose just gone bust. I switched by using various online checkers and Avro turned out cheapest and were also on MSE energy saving club. Their first direct debits were taken by Avro, and they went bust before I could even supply new meter readings. However Octopus will be taking that over so I don't think there'll be an issue regarding losing the credit taken. But with Igloo, my grandad had about 200 pounds of credit in his Igloo account which has gone bust. But how would I get this back because his next supplier he'd just joined (Avro) also went bust before I could provide them a meter reading to alow Igloo to provide a final bill. Hope that all makes sense. Thanks. |

Hmm you should have the credit still as we were with igloo and moved to eon and all credit should move. I think you will just have to wait until the new supplier has been established and your new account setup and then you can check that the credit came across.

it should move with his account, but fair play on calling out there are two moves to cover it across.
when the company i was with failed a year back it took scottish power till may this year to work it out from the records they eventually received. i think you need to keep all your meter readings safe and hound octopus to sort it out. |

Meter reading on smartphone so that it's datestamped - that way you can show the exact amount that had been used by the relevant dates, which is essential to show the price you should pay per unit, with the prices changing so dramatically

Probably to late on this occasion but Martin Lewis has been advising people to download/print their bills on a regular basis especially if in credit in case the provider goes bust.
Hope you get it sorted. |

IMO hes culpable for some of this. so many of his recommendations are for the vendors in the bottom end of the market thats hes pushed people, via his energy club, to vendors who werent insured against unusual price fluctuations. no due diligence

Strange times with these cos going bust. Also bizarre to see a headline 'Putin steps in to Ava energy crisis' as Russia supplies more to ease pressure.

Just had an email from OctopusEnergy with my new rates, I was with Arvo on a nice fixed for 2 year deal, half way through.. clearly I was expecting it to go up, a year with Avro was £1224, now it’s £1887 for the same usage.
