Yeah i think its a reasonable way to get an estimate, and i suppose you can look at your MAF curve to get an idea of the HP curve shape as well. Doesn't give you torque info, though. This also assumes that your MAF readings are accurate, so might want to take it with a grain of salt if you arent running stock intake.

It does but I question that value. At one point it changed by a couple hundred with an app version update (not tune change). I looked at it a while back and it didnt seem totally unreasonable but it also seem inconsistent over time and when comparing logs on different cars.

400.8 g/s = 501 crank = 425 whp
407 clutch nm @ 6786rpm = 387.88 whp (I assume) Yeah something seems off......

Can you tell me what the measured torque is at 6300/6400/6500 RPM is? And what is the MAF reading 6700 would be near fuel cut I believe

6000rpm, i get 460hp from torque and 412 from MAF (using 1.25 for crank HP) 5000rpm i get 401hp from torque and 365 from MAF (using 1.25) Not sure exactly what the torque parameter in the log is measuring (or how it is measuring), but wonder if it might be affected by torque converter or something. Either way the MAF conversion seems more accurate. |

Another question: Has anyone see a PS2 log showing MAF values north of 500 g/s??? I always thought the 550whp PS2 was BS...

Been using virtual dyno for the last week (I haven't created any new logs in more than a year) but my last recorded run was 382whp (smoothing 1) with over 360whp being carried to redline.
I tried to compare this to some of my older runs, and peak power is higher by about WHP 20WHP in the upper RPM range versus my prior logs before inlet & DV. I'll try to get some new ones with the CTS intake, but the issue is my logging cable doesn't work well.

Did the MPPK box hold up to the increased flow of the inlet, or is a true aftermarket intake required? Last edited by terryd5150; 04-02-2022 at 04:19 PM.. |

Then read this thread: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765289 MPPK+drop in filter + mst v2 is a fully optimized intake setup IMO. Negligible gains if any from intakes and the noise is annoying (again IMO). Even if an intake did add say 5hp i wouldnt run it due to noise. |

I do, my 3000gt makes plenty of turbo noises on accel, decel, BOV/flutter, etc. But the intakes/DV on N55's just don't sound good IMO, too much vacuum cleaner noise and "squeal" and high pitched air noise from the DV. Totally different from 90s era turbo noises.

Nope (lol), but feel free to sign me up for the following:
* Heavily-cammed V8's * The gear whine of a twin-screw supercharger * The "jet engine"-like spool-up of a turbocharger * Chambered exhausts * I6's with a deep, throaty growl - as opposed to a wasp-like rasp All of those tend to easily catch my ear. |

My friend’s E30 M20B25 was one of my favorites, it had a very ‘smooth’ turbine like sound, reminded me of one of those old sewing machines. It wasn’t ‘throaty’ but it had a good bass to the system. I had a Z3 with an M52TUB25 with a Super Sprint system - it was great, very bassy. My n52 with a full headers, mid pipe, and BMW performance muffler was obnoxiously loud, wow. It was bassy, throaty but raspy - it sounded raw. It was not for me. Made almost 250whp NA though, which I think is still a record It's slightly less obnoxious than this. Hated it. I've been trying to log a few different runs and seeing what these changes mean tangibly. I started with my own, but maybe we could make a thread of it?
