He was also trolling WTB threads under at least (2) other different user names other than 'Windwhisper' & 'Gonewiththewind' - PM me about a WTB Diff tool post 2X - one sending me to some 'friend' he knew that had one, & under the other username he would never supply pics (guess he wasn't able to use Google well enough to find someone else's pics of the tool)

I was also a victim of this scammer but PayPal was able to process my return quickly (within a week) after I submitted a claim. I am glad I did not send money using friends and family.

I feel for you all... this is a lesson - don't buy from someone without taking a cursory look at their posts and history. He was first called out as a scammer on Dec 31 here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1681539

in general, you should always use paypal goods/service. but even with that there's a limit. the reason this dude shipped a box of cheetos is b/c sometimes proof of delivery is all a seller needs to provide during a dispute. once it arrived, its your word against his as to what was in the box. that's why when i do pay via paypal, i always use my credit card so i can do a charge back if paypal fails me. that said, not going to lie. i sell stuff here all the time and ask for friends/family but offer the option to pay as goods/service if buyer pays the fee. that plus itrader feedback is key... |

Keep in mind that this real estate agent might be a victim of identity theft. The forum scammer may have chosen a random phone number that just happens to belong to this guy.
If you decide to tip off Compass Real Estate, I would encourage you NOT to directly accuse him of being a crook. Instead, you should say that it looks like he might be the guy who ripped you off. You could also contact the California Department of Real Estate. https://www.dre.ca.gov/Consumers/FileComplaint.html |

gonewiththewind, kind of a fitting name for a scammer. kinda humorous but i feel for everyone that's been ripped off by him. i used to be good at doxing mofos back when i was a teenager and was a hacker/script kiddie. i probably still got it in me but now i'm kinda lazy lol. seems he's already been identified.
doxing tips: 1. if you have any emails from him, check the mail headers some email clients and providers insert the sender's IP address in the SMTP headers. gmail used to but i don't think they do anymore but i could be wrong. it was easy doxing gmail users at least years ago. you can use his IP address to narrow down his location to help when cross referencing other info found in later steps. 2. run your own webserver/website and host your own images and phish his IP address if you have to. most people aren't smart enough to use a VPN or proxy and some proxies aren't anonymous and still pass the user's real IP address in the HTTP headers. you can use his IP address to narrow down his location to help when cross referencing other info found in later steps. 3. google or search fb/twitter for any phone numbers or email addresses you may have of him. people often use the same email when signing up on other forums and sometimes use their real name or give up personal info in conversations/threads. 4. search the background check sites for any information you have on him. chances are he's filled out some random form with the same phone number/address/email address and you can get his real name. 5. cross reference any info found. 6. when you have a valid personal email address verified belongs to him and once you have identified him, you can try and do a password reset on his email account by knowing relatives, birthdates etc. you can further own him and other linked accounts by getting into his email. (i once doxed someone and found gay.com registration emails and his username was str8sucker704 LOL. was quite funny because he always called people f*gg*ts. i ain't judgin but was quite ironic.) 7. mail a box of dildos to his house when doxed. 8. profit.
