But last update I had was that all mortgage offers were confirmed and in place, just 2 local searches due by the end of the month for 2 of the properties.

My mortgage with the Nationwide was confirmed really quickly. First conversation and offer on the 10th of December, valuation carried out on the 18th and back with the Nationwide same day, mortgage offer received a couple of days after that.

Solicitors all seem to be acting quickly, enquires sent by one solicitor to another and through to us same day.

I never trust them to act quickly anyway in normal times, so I keep in contact to make sure we don’t get pushed to the bottom of the pile.
Glad it seems to be going well. Took my nephew 7 months to get moved and it was a chain of two! Niece was slightly quicker but delay for theirs seemed to be a first time buyer at the foot of the chain in no hurry (till I offered to buy the property they were buying to speed things up and the end of the chain who were having a new build...

All sorted in the week before xmas - both of them! My brother still recovering from helping both move in same week.....

Tried a couple, no joy so far.

If need be they’ll still be in the pond on moving day, I have only said verbally I’ll remove them, not on the contracts. I’ll still honour it and come back and sort, but as you say my focus is elsewhere on the move at the moment. Fish aren’t priority number one.

Getting removals quotes and massive differences so far, ranging from £600 to £1750!

£600 sounds cheap for a full house, if its 2 blokes and they want £150 a day each plus vehicle, insurance, profit margin etc

Do you have GB Liners in your area? Highly recommended if one of your quotes is from them.

We used Bonners, who were very good. £950 + VAT, two vehicles (one large, one small) 70 miles distance.

Wouldn’t go with the £600, in fact it was slightly less than that. £560 for 3 men and 2 Luton Vans. No chance.

£1750 was including VAT from Express Movers, the only decent sized Chesterfield company. He came round a did a survey. Said he could do it, including dismantling and reassembling beds with one big lorry and 2 men. Seems quite a lot for that.

Last time we moved in 2014 I only paid £450!

I expect I’ll end up paying somewhere around £1-1.2k this time by the time I’ve done.

Just looked, nearest one is in Loughborough about 45 mins away. Might be a bit far, but I’ll give them a go.

I’ll try them as well, thanks. Nearest place they have is north Nottingham, so not too far away.

That's who moved my stuff down here when I came down with final stuff from Chesterfield 5 years ago. They were very good, and I would use them again (when I move back up no doubt!)
